Duties

  • Perform thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
  • Administer medications and injections, including IV infusions and immunizations, following strict aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
  • Assist with procedures such as suturing, wound care, catheterization, tube feeding management, and ostomy care with precision and professionalism.
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations including specimen collection/processing, laboratory testing, and basic medical imaging like sonography or radiology referrals when necessary.
  • Manage acute pain cases, triage patients efficiently to prioritize urgent needs, and coordinate with physicians for complex cases involving trauma medicine or infectious disease care.
  • Provide patient education on health coaching topics such as geriatrics, behavioral health, medication management, or chronic disease control to promote long-term wellness.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately in EMR/EHR systems like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks while adhering to HIPAA standards.

Requirements

  • Valid RN or LPN license in Kentucky with current certification to practice in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience working in urgent care, emergency room, hospital medicine, or critical care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or similar platforms; familiarity with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated skills in patient assessment, airway management, IV insertion/infusion, phlebotomy, and sterile processing techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology knowledge, and diagnostic evaluation procedures.
  • Ability to handle diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or memory care needs.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork and patient education; experience in trauma medicine or occupational health is a plus.
