RN - Special Care Transport - ED - Full Time - Nightshift
72 hrs. Biweekly, 630pm - 7am
Up to $30,000 Sign on Bonus
The Special Care Transport RN is responsible for the safe and effective transport of patients requiring advanced clinical support. This role ensures comprehensive communication with the onsite care team and gathers all pertinent clinical information necessary to facilitate appropriate and seamless patient transfer.
In the clinical setting, the Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking, independent judgment, and evidence-based practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients experiencing actual or potential health problems. The Special Care Transport RN provides high-quality, patient-centered care throughout the transport process, maintaining patient safety, stability, and continuity of care.
The Special Care Transport RN demonstrates accountability, clinical expertise, and a commitment to excellence in emergency and transport nursing practice.
Key responsibilities include:
Collaborating with physicians, nurses, EMS personnel, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe patient transport.
Assessing patient condition prior to and during transport, initiating appropriate interventions as needed.
Ensuring accurate and timely communication of patient status, treatment plans, and clinical updates between sending and receiving teams.
Maintaining clinical competency in emergency and transport nursing practices.
Participating in continuing education and professional development in accordance with regulatory and accrediting agency standards.
Adhering to ethical and professional standards as defined by the Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics.
Delegating and supervising care as appropriate, supporting team members in the delivery and evaluation of patient care.
Reporting any breaches in clinical, safety, or ethical standards to leadership promptly.
Education - ASN required. BSN Preferred.
Experience - Minimum of one year of experience in a hospital setting required.
Licensure/Certification - Specialty certification recognized by the Magnet Recognition Program™ preferred. Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or if resident of a state that participates in Nurse Multi-State Compact agreement, holds Registered Nurse License from that state that is designated as "Compact" or "Multi-State Privilege" using primary source verification and provides additional documentation as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing. RN License from a compact state with a designation of "Single State" does not meet the requirement and nurse must obtain a Maryland license. ACLS and PALS within 6 weeks of start within the position. Professional certification in area of clinical specialty preferred. BLS (CPR) in compliance with policy required.
Knowledge/Skill/Abilities - Ability to apply the standards of professional nursing practice with compassion and empathy. Basic computer skills required. Must pocess high level of organizational and communication skills.
