POSITION SUMMARY

The primary role of the RN Unit Supervisor is to provide support to the Director of Quality Assurance by organizing and implementing nursing care strategies for the delivery of efficient and effective care. RN Unit Supervisor ensures the care provided is consistent with local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations. This position is responsible for ensuring that high quality care is delivered to all residents/patients of the facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support in the development, implementation, and goals of the assigned unit(s).
  • Participate in unit specific Quality Assurance and Improvement Activities.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement. Initiate Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) as directed.
  • Oversee the provision of appropriate medications, treatments and general nursing services according to the resident's/patient's care plan and physician-directed orders.
  • Adhere to local, state and federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Help prepare the unit(s) for the annual California Department of Public Health (CDPH) survey, resulting in no preventable significant citations from CDPH. When needed, help create Plan of Correction (POCs), Informal Dispute Resolutions (IDRs), etc.
  • Provide coverage as needed related to staffing needs.
  • Support Director of LTC in monitoring staff performance.
  • Support Director of LTC in hiring staff, in the orientation of new employees, and ongoing education of assigned staff.
  • Assist in monitoring adequate staffing levels to allow admission without interruption, as well as the prevention of the facility from falling below required staffing ratios.
  • Assist in monitoring staff breaks, missed punches, overtime, and schedule each shift.
  • Develop a strong and cohesive Nursing Team that practices strong inter-departmental collaboration, as well as act as role model and lead by example.
  • Serve on various committees including, but not limited to: Psychotropics, Falls, Safety, Skin, Weight, QAPI, RTA/Transfers, Infection Control, etc.
  • Conduct clinical investigations and timely reporting of all unusual occurrences and adverse events to the Director of LTC/Post-Acute Care and CNO.
  • Outreach in relations to families regarding care concerns.
  • Collaborate with other members of leadership to maintain a culture/environment that practices quality customer service, and service recovery when needed.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) licensure and BSN required
  • At least one-year clinical work experience in post-acute and long-term care environment
  • Knowledge of State and Federal/CMS guidelines and regulations preferred
  • Able to demonstrate leadership ability and teaching skills
  • Able to provide direction and coordination for a multi-faceted program, including problem resolution within facility
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills with the capacity to make quick and definitive decisions
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and work on multiple tasks in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a deadline-oriented environment with multiple priorities.
  • Ability to be accurate, concise, and detail-oriented
  • Computer proficiency including word processing, ability to use email and Internet programs, familiar with computerized data entry
  • Ability to sit and/or work on a computer for long periods
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, residents and family members, and at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

JOB DETAILS

  • Pay Rate: $68.27 per hour
  • Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
  • Shift Schedule: AM | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

  • Ability to lift a minimum of fifteen (15) pounds
