Roadside Mechanic

Job Overview

Paveway Express is a growing transportation company based in Greenville, SC, specializing in dedicated automotive freight and shuttle operations throughout the Upstate. We are looking for a dependable Roadside Mechanic to assist with roadside repairs, tire service, trailer repairs, and general fleet maintenance.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, solving problems in the field, and helping keep trucks and trailers moving. You must be comfortable performing roadside repairs safely and efficiently with minimal supervision.

Duties

• Respond to roadside breakdowns and service calls
• Perform tire replacements and tire repairs on tractors and trailers
• Repair lighting, air leaks, airlines, glad hands, mudflaps, and other trailer components
• Perform minor mechanical repairs in the field
• Assist with trailer repairs, including doors, landing gear, suspension components, and brake issues
• Complete preventative maintenance and inspections as needed
• Conduct DOT inspections and identify safety concerns
• Communicate repair status and updates with operations personnel
• Maintain service vehicle inventory and organization
• Safely work in roadside and customer environments

Qualifications

• Mechanical experience preferred
• Must be very comfortable changing truck and trailer tires
• Experience performing trailer repairs and basic trailer maintenance
• Basic knowledge of brakes, air systems, suspension systems, and lighting systems
• Ability to diagnose common roadside issues and determine appropriate repairs
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
• Valid driver's license required
• Ability to lift heavy components and work outdoors in various weather conditions

Due to the nature of roadside service calls, flexibility with hours is required. Some days may require an early start, late finish, or occasional after-hours assistance depending on operational needs.

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
