Roadway Engineering Designer EIT

requiredSUMMARY

Conducts preliminary design analysis and calculations during the planning, design and construction phases of PRHTA, Municipalities projects, with an emphasis on design and plan, specifications and cost estimates preparation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

•Working under the supervision of a licensed engineer, analyze and prepare roadway and Temporary Traffic Control Plans (TTCP)designs, calculations and drawings for Expressway/Limited-Access facilities and Arterial/Local roads using DOT and/or local jurisd

•Develop 3D Models of roadways, using Corridor Modeling in GEOPAK and/or Open Roads

•Approach tasks with an open mindset; propose innovative solutions to design problems

•Prepare engineering reports and contract documents for review by a licensed engineer

•May track and provide initial review tasks of technicians or designers

•Responsible for managing timely completion of multiple assigned tasks

•Communicate effectively with team members and internal design groups; external communication as required on assigned tasks

•Effectively present proposed design solutions as part of internal project meetings; may attend and contribute to presentations with external parties

•Adhere to company marketing requirements by providing timely resume updates and participating in marketing campaigns

•Ensure timely completion of time sheets and expense reports

•Take ownership of personal career development by seeking and providing feedback, seizing opportunities to develop new skills, and setting and pursuing personal goals

COMPETENCIES

•Possesses excellent analytical, technical, and communication skills

•Proficient, or ability to quickly become proficient in some or all of the following programs: Auto Cad, Civil 3D, AutoTURN, andGuidSIGN

•Demonstrated proficiency in the full suite of Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat

•Able to quickly obtain working knowledge of PRHTA Design Manual, AASHTO - A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, PRHTA Manual of Uniform Minimum Standards for Design, Construction and Maintenance for Streets and Highways(Florida Greenbook), AASHTO - Roadside Design Guide, PRHTA Flexible Pavement Design Manual, MUTCD - Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways, PRHTA Rigid Pavement Design Manual, and PRHTA Standard Plans for Road and Bridge Construction

•Knowledge of the PRHTA roadway design process

•Able to coordinate tasks across disciplines to achieve project goals

•Ability to perform in a fast-paced team environment; self-motivated and possesses excellent time management and organizational skills

•Takes pride in delivering creative design solutions accurately and efficiently

•Maintains a positive attitude and collaborative spirit

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

•Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

•EIT certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months

•Master in Transportation Engineering

•Knowledge of PRHTA/FHWA design standards and specifications.

Job Type: Full-time
