Robotic Grinding Operator - 1st or 2nd Shift

Mercury is an integrated manufacturing company that has been located in Hammondsport, NY for over 100 years. We are looking for an Operator, who will be responsible for operation and maintenance of robotic grinding equipment to ensure efficient and precise finishing of metal parts. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality finished products. The work schedule is either Monday to Friday, 6:30am-3:00pm or 3:00pm to 11:30pm.

Duties

• Set up and operate robotic grinding equipment to grind and polish metal parts according to specifications
• Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
• Make necessary adjustments to the robotic system to maintain consistency and quality in the finished products.
• Prepare workpieces for grinding by cleaning, securing, and positioning parts
• Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures when operating equipment and handling materials
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe working environment
• Regular use of software to track results of production
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience in operating manufacturing equipment preferred
• Ability to read and understand work instructions and to enter data into company software
• Basic math is essential
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of the job the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear, or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with occasional loud noises. A representative wage range is included in this posting. Final wage will be based on experience.
