Welder – Robotic Welding Technician

Position Summary:

The Welder – Robotic Welding Technician is responsible for operating, programming support, troubleshooting, and maintaining robotic welding equipment while also performing manual welding and fabrication as needed. This position plays a critical role in producing high-quality welded components safely, efficiently, and according to company and customer specifications. This position works primarily in a manufacturing and fabrication environment around welding equipment, robotic machinery, forklifts, and overhead cranes. Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required based on production demands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate robotic welding systems to produce welded parts and assemblies.
  • Load and unload materials into robotic weld fixtures safely and efficiently.
  • Set up welding fixtures, jigs, tooling, and robotic welding parameters.
  • Perform routine adjustments and minor programming edits on robotic welders.
  • Inspect weld quality to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform manual MIG welding, tack welding, grinding, and fabrication work as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
  • Conduct dimensional checks using measuring tools including tape measures, squares, calipers, and gauges.
  • Troubleshoot robotic welding issues including weld quality, alignment, wire feed, and fixture concerns.
  • Complete production documentation accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve welding processes and efficiency.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance on robotic welding equipment and tooling.
  • Train and mentor less experienced welders or operators when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Forklift and overhead crane experience.
  • Experience with robotic welding systems (Fanuc, Lincoln, OTC Daihen, Yaskawa/Motoman, ABB, etc.)
  • Technical degree or welding certification.
  • 2–5 years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Flux-core or TIG experience.
  • Basic understanding of robotic programming and troubleshooting.

Job Qualifications (Required):

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols.
  • Skilled in MIG welding
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of welding processes, metal fabrication, and quality standards.
  • Ability to identify welding defects and make corrections.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Basic computer skills for production tracking and robotic interfaces.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (heat, sparks, noise, and moving equipment).
  • Must be able to wear required PPE including welding hood, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots
