The Technology Development Team at RTConsults creates new, often disruptive technologies for obtaining the information needed to optimize inspections and application technology. We're looking for a creative, hands-on problem solver who plays well with others, likes to tackle big challenges, and takes responsibility for delivering results.
Our interests include: robotics and autonomous systems, sensor platforms, robotic arm translation, field automated measurement, application monitoring, and fiber optic/AI camera sensing.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Design electrical systems with a focus on creating simple, elegant solutions that bring significant innovation to solving measurement challenges with robotic or pcb systems
- Conduct simulation analyses of mechanical systems to ensure compatibility with the deployment environment
- Develop prototypes of robotics systems to be used in lab and field environments
- Collect and analyze lab data and field data to get information about environmental conditions and processes, evaluate system performance, and understand the origins of failures / successes
- Manage engineering projects to ensure high quality results and timely delivery on commitments
- Provide technical insights and experienced guidance to help other people in the team do their best work and deliver great results
- Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and conferences; support drafting of patent applications
- Assemble, inspect, and repair PCB boards and electronic modules
- Design, test, and troubleshoot electronic circuits and PCB layouts
- Must have experience with computer-aided design and simulation software relevant to your discipline
- Occasional travel required to technical conferences and to support testing new technologies at our facilities
- Diligent in working from home and working on teams on a regular basis
- We're particularly interested in people whose experience includes materials and manufacturing robotics and automation, signal processing, or engineering project management
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science degree in an Electrical or Electronic Engineering discipline from a recognized college or university.
- Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of engineering practices including scientific and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, and codes, standards and specifications. Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette.
- Experience in electronic design, PCB assembly, robotics systems, or automation
- Programming experience: Python, C/C++, Arduino, or similar
- Proficiency with software: EasyEDA, Fusion 360, KiCad, Proteus
- Experience with interfaces: HDMI, I2S, UART, SPI, I2C, BLE, BT, GSM/GPRS, LTE, NB-IoT, ladder logic, machine coding
- Knowledge of microcontrollers (PIC, AVR, STM32, Arduino, ESP32, etc.)
- Ability to read schematics and operate test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope)
- Strong problem-solving skills, technical troubleshooting, and project management experience
