Heavy Lifting Kids Coding & Robotics is a Mountain View–based company dedicated to empowering K–8 students through hands-on robotics, coding, and engineering education. We teach students to build, code, and innovate using LEGO® robotics systems—including SPIKE™ Essentials, SPIKE™ Prime, and advanced Python-based programming. Our programs range from introductory STEM exploration to competition-level training for FIRST LEGO League (FLL). Our teaching philosophy combines rigor, creativity, and real-world engineering practices. Classes are intentionally small and team-focused so every student receives personalized guidance while learning to collaborate like real engineers. Our mission is simple: build the next generation of innovators while fostering confidence, creativity, and leadership in every child.

Position Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, and kid-loving Robotics Instructor to join our teaching team. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with children, loves tinkering with robotics, and wants to make STEM learning exciting and accessible. You will teach hands-on robotics classes at our workshop using LEGO® SPIKE kits, Scratch programming, introductory Python, and engineering problem-solving methods. Training and curriculum materials are fully provided.

ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Classroom Leadership

  • Teach robotics and coding to elementary school students.
  • Lead structured lessons using provided curriculum (LEGO SPIKE Essentials, SPIKE Prime, Scratch, Python, mechanical engineering basics).
  • Guide students through the engineering design process (build → test → iterate).
  • Assist or coach student teams preparing for FIRST LEGO League competitions.
  • Demonstrate mechanical, sensor, and programming concepts in kid-friendly ways.

Operational Duties

  • Set up classroom materials before class; clean up afterwards.
  • Maintain robotics kits, parts, and classroom equipment.
  • Communicate student progress and class updates with the teaching team.

QualificationsRequired

  • Enjoy working with kids and helping them succeed
  • Strong communication and classroom-management skills
  • Basic hands-on experience in one of the following:
  • LEGO robotics
  • Scratch or Python
  • Engineering, coding, or maker projects
  • Responsible, punctual, and reliable
  • Able to work after-school hours or weekends

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Experience with LEGO SPIKE Prime or SPIKE Essentials
  • Prior teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience
  • Familiarity with FLL or FTC robotics
  • Engineering, CS, education, or STEM background
  • Ability to coach teams or assist with competitions
