ABOUT THE ROLE

The role will support the Head of ESG in overseeing all Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives across our entire group, including UAE and international operations. This position will support the implementation of our comprehensive, group-wide ESG strategy. Key responsibilities include management and analysis of ESG data, monitoring and reporting on ESG performance and global ESG ratings, organising and participating in cross-functional ESG working groups, and project management of corporate-led ESG projects for Emaar Properties. The successful candidate will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to help drive sustainable practices and support continuous improvement throughout all segments of our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the development and rollout of ESG strategies, policies, and frameworks in alignment with EMAAR’s sustainability vision.
  • Act as an internal ESG advisor, providing guidance to business units and internal stakeholders on regulatory developments and best practice.
  • Manages the collection, validation, and analysis of ESG-related data (environmental footprint, social impact, governance practices) from various departments.
  • Coordinates the preparation of internal ESG dashboards and external reporting (e.g., annual sustainability reports, disclosures, investor submissions).
  • Tracks alignment with applicable ESG regulations, standards, and frameworks (e.g., GRI, IFRS S1 and S2, TCFD, UNGC, UAE sustainability regulations).
  • Works with internal stakeholders to embed and monitor ESG metrics in business KPIs and operational processes
  • Manage specific corporate-led ESG projects for Emaar Properties (eg., ESG sections of annual reports, human rights strategy, etc)
  • Supports audits, peer benchmarking, and materiality assessments.
  • Participates in the planning and execution of ESG training, awareness campaigns to promote and deliver ESG awareness and capacity building.
  • Assists in preparation of ESG internal and external communication materials and presentations for senior leadership.
  • Maintains ESG records and documentation to ensure audit readiness and traceability.
  • Organise, facilitate and document ESG project and governance meetings, including working groups and steering committee meetings, ensuring clear actions, decisions and accountabilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science or other relevant disciplines.
  • Certifications in either ESG, GRI Standards, IFRS S1 and S2 and/or climate-related professional designations are an advantage.
  • Written and spoken English is essential, Arabic is preferred.

Experience:

  • Sustainability professional with 7-8 years of experience.
  • Practical experience / demonstratable knowledge of climate change / decarbonization, environmental management and / or biodiversity.
  • Strong understanding of ESG/climate issues in the real estate sector.
  • Experience in sizeable companies with project and people management skills.
  • Strong passion for sustainability.
  • Proficiency in ESG data analysis, data management and performance tracking.
  • Experience in ESG reporting and disclosure of ESG data and metrics in alignment with local regulations and international best practice reporting standards (eg. GRI Standards, TCFD and/or CDP, knowledge of IFRS S1 and S2 Standards).
  • Experience within the real estate / built environment sector and knowledge of environmental management and decarbonisation strategies, climate change mitigation and adaptation plans, risk assessments.
  • Experience in policy development and management of sustainability initiatives, measuring progress against sustainability goals and maximizing positive impact.
  • Fostering a culture of sustainability by engaging stakeholders, promoting responsible business practices and enhancing brand reputation.
  • Knowledge of GHG accounting is an advantage, with the ability to review and interpret emissions data.
