Responsibilities
- Safely operate roll-off trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles such as front loader, rear loader, dump trucks, flatbeds, and tractor-trailers to transport waste materials to designated disposal or recycling sites
- Load and unload containers efficiently using mechanical knowledge of various truck types and equipment
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with all federal and state regulations
- Load, secure, and unload materials with manual effort when necessary, ensuring proper handling of heavy loads
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, route documentation, and inspection records for accountability and compliance purposes
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and team members to coordinate pickups and deliveries in a timely manner
- Perform routine maintenance checks on trucks, including fluid levels, tire pressure, brakes, lights, and mechanical components
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid CDL license appropriate for roll-off trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles
- Mechanical knowledge of truck systems including front loader, rear loader, dump trucks, flatbeds, and tractor-trailers
- Skilled in operating manual transmission vehicles safely under various load conditions
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when loading or unloading materials manually or with mechanical aids
- Strong understanding of load securing techniques to prevent accidents or spills during transit
- Excellent driving record with experience in delivery routes involving multiple stops and tight schedules
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and waste management procedures
