Role Overview

IR Energy are seeking an experienced Roofer (Solar) to join our solar installation team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality roofing support and solar PV installations on residential and commercial properties. This role involves preparing roofs, installing solar panels and mounting systems, ensuring watertight integrity and structural compliance and working safely at height as part of a coordinated installation crew.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform roof assessments and prepare roofs for solar PV installations, including minor repairs or modifications as required.
• Install and securely mount solar panels and mounting hardware across a variety of roof types (e.g pitched, flat, tiled, slate).
• Ensure all roofing work maintains the structural integrity and weatherproofing of the building.
• Work safely at height using appropriate PPE, harnesses, scaffolding and fall-protection equipment in line with health and safety standards.
• Collaborate closely with electricians, project managers and installation teams to integrate roofing work with the full solar installation.
• Maintain tidy and safe work areas and responsibly manage materials and tools onsite.
• Communicate with clients on site professionally, addressing roof-related questions or concerns.
• Complete installation documentation and report progress to supervisors.

Skills and Experience

• Proven experience in roofing, slating, tiling or similar trade required.
• Experience with solar PV installation best practices preferred.
• Solid understanding of roof materials, fixing methods and waterproofing principles.
• Comfortable working at heights and in outdoor environments.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Previous roofing experience essential; solar installation experience needed
• Valid UK driving licence
• CSCS card or equivalent construction safety certification desirable.
• Basic understanding of health and safety regulations relating to working at height, roofing and construction.

Working Conditions

• Field-based role with travel to installation sites.
• Work at height on roofs in varying weather conditions.
• Physically demanding tasks including lifting, positioning panels and working with hand and power tools.
