Job Title: Rooms Controller/Front Office Host

Department: Front Office

Reports to: Front Office Manager


Thompson San Antonio-Riverwalk is seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Rooms Controller/Front Office Host to join our team. In this role, you will serve as the central connection point between Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering and Sales - ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and seamless communication. You'll support the Front Office team by analyzing reports, optimizing room availability, assigning group blocks, and resolving challenges that impact guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage room availability and assign room blocks for groups, VIPs, and guest preferences with accuracy and care
  • Analyze reports to ensure room availability aligns with operational needs
  • Collaborate closely with Housekeeping, Sales, and Engineering to ensure smooth operations
  • Support the Front Office guest registration process, including check ins, check outs, and room changes when needed
  • Perform guest check-in/check-out and handle payments
  • Respond to guest inquiries, requests, and special accommodations
  • Handle reservations, calls, and daily operational reports
  • Assist with night audit tasks and cash handling procedures
  • Follow hotel policies, safety standards, and guest privacy practices

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of hotel or customer service experience preferred
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with property management systems and basic office software
  • A passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
