Cherokee Freight Lines is seeking an experienced Safety & Claims Compliance Specialist to support the Company’s day-to-day transportation safety, claims, and compliance operations. This position is responsible for managing accident and insurance claim administration, maintaining driver qualification and compliance records, reviewing safety events, and supporting ongoing DOT/FMCSA compliance requirements.

The ideal candidate will have prior transportation safety experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to independently manage multiple safety and compliance responsibilities in a fast-paced transportation environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage accident, incident, and insurance claim files
• Maintain accident, incident, and claim tracking logs and status updates
• Coordinate driver incident reporting, corrective actions, and follow-up documentation
• Communicate with drivers, vendors, insurance adjusters, customers, attorneys, and third parties regarding claims and safety matters
• Track outstanding claims, safety, and compliance matters to ensure timely resolution
• Maintain and update Driver Qualification (DQ) files and ensure ongoing DOT/FMCSA compliance
• Monitor CDL, DOT medical card, and other driver qualification expiration dates
• Maintain random drug and alcohol testing records and compliance documentation
• Review outward-facing camera footage and safety event videos for safety and compliance concerns
• Document and track safety events, violations, corrective actions, coaching, and remedial training
• Maintain safety logs, spreadsheets, files, and tracking documents related to safety and compliance activities
• Assist with audits, compliance reviews, and DOT/FMCSA record requests
• Assist with additional day-to-day transportation safety and compliance duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of DOT/FMCSA transportation safety and compliance experience required
• Experience with accident and claims administration, DQ file maintenance, safety event review, and compliance follow-up required
• Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and transportation safety practices
• Strong organizational, communication, and follow-up skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and transportation safety systems preferred
• Experience with McLeod, Samsara, SmartDrive, or similar systems preferred

Schedule: Monday – Friday

Pay: $32.00 - $36.00 per hour
