Full job description

We're looking to recruit a highly skilled and experienced Road and Safety Engineer to join our team in Ajman.

The successful candidate will be responsible for smooth project execution and regulatory compliance whilst coordinating between various stakeholders and ensuring adherence to safety standards. You will also be responsible for obtaining Right of Way Permits (ROWPs).

Key Result Areas (Responsibilities):

Obtaining ROWPs:

• Submission of applications for Right of Way Permits (ROWPs) to the SRTA and other relevant authorities, ensuring compliance with their regulations and guidelines.
• Liaising with government agencies, SRTA departments, and other stakeholders to obtain the necessary permits for Road closures/diversions, and other related approvals.

Compliance with SRTA Standards and Regulations:

• Preparing design and ensure compliance with SRTAs safety standards, guidelines, and legal requirements.
• Developing and implementing safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct site visits and assessments to verify that the activities are within approved parameters and aligned with permit requirements.
• Implement and maintain road diversions as needed.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Prepare and maintain accurate records of all ROWP applications, approvals, and related communications.
• Ensure all necessary documentation is submitted on time and accurately to regulatory authorities.

Risk Management and Safety Compliance:

• Conduct risk assessments related to road safety and infrastructure development.
• Prepare risk assessments and method statements for work activities, ensuring adherence by site personnel.
• Identify potential safety hazards and implement mitigation measures in accordance with SRTA safety regulations.
• Ensure proper maintenance and availability of equipment and machineries.

Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration:

• Collaborate closely with SRTA, municipal authorities, and other governmental bodies for project-related approvals and permits.
• Serve as the point of contact for inquiries regarding ROWPs, and safety-related concerns.

Experience:

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in road safety, infrastructure planning, or a related field in the UAE.
• Strong knowledge of Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) regulations, guidelines, and approval processes.
• Proven experience in obtaining ROWPs for road and infrastructure projects.

Certifications and Licensing:

• RTA Certification: Must possess relevant RTA certification or accreditation for permit applications, road safety management, or infrastructure development.
• Certification in Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is a plus.
• Traffic Management or Road Safety certification is desirable.

Technical Expertise: Familiarity with civil engineering standards, construction safety practices, and project management.

Project Coordination: Ability to work with multiple stakeholders, manage tasks efficiently, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.

Working Conditions:

Full-time position based in Ajman, UAE.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED2,000.00 - AED3,500.00 per month
