Job Purpose
The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy working environment in the packaging manufacturing facility by implementing safety policies, monitoring compliance, conducting inspections, and reducing workplace accidents and hazards.
Key ResponsibilitiesHealth & Safety Compliance
- Ensure compliance with UAE Labour Law, local HSE regulations, and company safety policies
- Implement and maintain HSE procedures across all production areas
- Ensure all machinery is operated as per safety standards
Risk Assessment & Prevention
- Conduct daily and weekly safety inspections of machines, work areas, and utilities
- Identify hazards related to machinery, electrical systems, manual handling, chemicals, and fire safety
- Carry out risk assessments and recommend corrective and preventive actions
Training & Awareness
- Conduct safety inductions for new employees
- Organize toolbox talks, safety drills, and refresher trainings
- Ensure proper usage of PPE by all employees
Incident Management
- Investigate accidents, near-misses, and unsafe acts
- Prepare incident and investigation reports
- Maintain records of injuries, corrective actions, and safety performance
Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and implement emergency response plans
- Conduct fire drills and evacuation drills
- Coordinate with external emergency services when required
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain HSE documentation, permits, checklists, and logs
- Prepare monthly safety reports for management
- Track safety KPIs such as accident rate, near-miss reports, and PPE compliance
Coordination & Monitoring
- Coordinate with production, maintenance, and HR teams to enforce safety standards
- Monitor contractor and visitor safety compliance
- Ensure safety signage and instructions are properly displayed
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field
- NEBOSH IGC / IOSH certification preferred
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience in packaging, paper, plastic, or printing industries is an advantage

- Strong knowledge of industrial safety standards and regulations
- Ability to identify hazards and implement preventive measures
- Good communication and training skills
- Strong reporting and documentation skills
- Ability to work in day and night shifts if required
