Sales & Design Consultant

The Sales & Design Consultant is responsible for meeting with clients to design customized home organization solutions and guide them through the sales process from consultation to signed contract. This role combines sales expertise with creative design skills to develop functional and aesthetically pleasing storage systems tailored to each client’s needs. There is no salary cap! We expect high performers to exceed 125k/ year.

This position operates in a one sit close environment, where the consultant is expected to present, refine, and close the sale during the initial consultation whenever possible. Success in this role requires confidence in asking for the sale, overcoming objections in real time, and delivering immediate, high-value solutions to clients.

The Sales & Design Consultant conducts in-home consultations, creates design proposals, presents solutions, and closes sales while delivering an exceptional client experience. The consultant works closely with the Sales Manager and Operations team to ensure accurate project documentation and a smooth transition from design to installation.

The ideal candidate is a motivated sales professional with strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate client needs into effective design solutions—while thriving in a fast-paced, results-driven, one-visit sales environment.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Client Consultations

  • Conduct in-home or showroom consultations with clients to assess storage needs and space requirements.
  • Build rapport quickly and establish trust to support a one-visit close.
  • Understand organizational challenges, priorities, and design preferences.
  • Measure spaces accurately and document site conditions.
  • Provide professional recommendations and customized storage solutions on the spot.

Design & Proposal Development

  • Create customized designs and proposals using company design software during or immediately following the consultation.
  • Present design solutions in a clear, confident, and compelling manner.
  • Explain product features, benefits, materials, and functionality.
  • Make real-time adjustments based on client feedback to move toward a decision.
  • Ensure proposals accurately reflect the scope of work and client requirements.

Sales Process Management

  • Guide clients through the complete sales process with the goal of closing during the initial consultation.
  • Present pricing confidently and ask for the sale in a direct and professional manner.
  • Address objections and concerns in real time to secure commitment.
  • Follow up as needed on non-closed opportunities to convert to signed contracts.
  • Maintain accurate records of consultations, proposals, and sales activity in the CRM system.

Project Documentation & Accuracy

  • Ensure all job documentation is accurate and complete before submitting projects to operations.
  • Document site conditions, special instructions, and customer expectations clearly.
  • Communicate any special job requirements or site considerations to the operations team.
  • Take accurate field measurements and verify dimensions prior to submitting final designs.

Client Experience

  • Deliver a professional, efficient, and consultative experience focused on clarity and decision-making.
  • Create a seamless and confident buying experience aligned with a one sit close approach.
  • Respond to client inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain strong communication with clients throughout the design and sales process.

Collaboration with Sales Manager

  • Participate in regular sales meetings and coaching sessions.
  • Continuously improve consultation effectiveness, closing skills, and product knowledge.
  • Implement feedback from field coaching and training sessions, particularly around closing techniques.

Marketing & Networking Support

  • Participate in networking events, showroom events, or promotional activities when requested.
  • Encourage satisfied clients to provide reviews or referrals.

Additional Duties

  • Perform other sales or operational duties as assigned by management.

  • Designs and proposals are accurate and installation-ready.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in sales, interior design, home improvement, or related field preferred.
  • Strong sales ability with a consultative approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to measure spaces accurately and create functional designs.
  • Comfortable using design software and CRM systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel locally for in-home consultations.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and measure spaces within client homes.
  • Ability to occasionally lift sample materials or design materials when necessary.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
