Role Overview
The FMCG Sales Head will be responsible for driving overall sales growth, distribution expansion, and revenue performance for staple food products including rice, sugar, spices, and pulses. The role involves pan-India sales strategy, distributor management, team leadership, and market expansion across General Trade, Modern Trade, and Institutional channels.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth
Develop and execute annual and monthly sales plans to achieve volume and value targets.
Drive market penetration and brand visibility for rice, sugar, spices, and dhal products.
Identify new markets, geographies, and high-growth opportunities.
Monitor competitor activity, pricing, and market trends.
Distribution & Channel Management
Build and manage a strong distributor, super-stockist, and dealer network.
Ensure optimal product availability, stock rotation, and coverage.
Improve reach in urban and rural markets.
Team Leadership & Performance Management
Lead, mentor, and motivate regional sales managers, area sales managers, and sales officers.
Set KPIs, review performance, and drive productivity.
Conduct regular sales reviews, training, and field visits.
Build a high-performance sales culture.
Pricing, Schemes & Trade Promotions
Design and implement trade schemes, incentives, and promotional offers.
Ensure effective price positioning considering commodity price fluctuations.
Coordinate with marketing for in-store visibility and activations.
Demand Forecasting & Supply Coordination
Provide accurate sales forecasts to production and supply chain teams.
Coordinate with operations to ensure timely production and dispatch.
Minimize stock-outs and overstock situations.
Financial & Reporting Responsibilities
Manage sales budgets, receivables, and credit control.
Ensure healthy DSO and distributor collections.
Prepare MIS reports on sales performance, market coverage, and growth metrics.
Qualification & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business / Marketing / Commerce (MBA preferred)
More than 10 years of FMCG sales experience
Minimum 5–7 years in a senior leadership role
Experience in rice, sugar, spices, pulses, or food grains preferred
