Position Summary
The Sales Manager is responsible for driving profitable sales growth in alignment with the company’s business plan. This role leads business development, sales strategy, customer relationships, and sales operations while working closely with internal teams to support long-term growth and customer satisfaction.
This position reports directly to the General Manager and plays a key leadership role within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new market segments aligned with Ironwood Plastics’ capabilities and capacity
- Prospect and pursue new customers while expanding existing accounts
- Develop and execute sales strategies for targeted prospects
- Promote Ironwood Plastics’ capabilities, vision, and values to prospective customers
- Stay current on industry trends through training, seminars, and trade publications
- Establish and manage sales travel plans to support growth objectives
- Own piece‑part and tooling pricing for existing business
Customer Relationship Management
- Lead or support higher‑level customer relationships and negotiations
- Assist with contracts, terms and conditions, supply agreements, obsolete inventory, blanket orders, and pricing structures as needed
Marketing
- Contribute to the development and execution of strategic marketing initiatives
- Evaluate new sales and marketing ideas for applicability to Ironwood Plastics
- Lead or support events that promote Ironwood’s capabilities, including trade shows and industry forums
Sales Operations
- Maintain and manage the sales funnel to ensure accurate tracking and forecasting
- Drive achievement of annual tooling and manufacturing sales goals
- Collaborate with Sales Engineers, Account Managers, and Account Representatives on customer quotes and proposals
- Review and approve quotes, purchase orders, job numbers, and tooling projects
- Prepare, monitor, and manage the sales department budget
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (Business, Engineering, or related field preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years of related sales and industry experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong ability to multitask and manage complex, high‑value bids
- Experience reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- ERP system experience (IQMS preferred)
- Ability to build complex spreadsheets and professional presentations (including audio/video content)
- Familiarity with Pro/E or other parametric design software
- Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
Additional Details
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, core hours 7:00am–4:30pm (flexible within a 9‑hour day)
- Typical Work Week: Approximately 45 hours; some weekends required
- Work Environment: Office and manufacturing environment; on‑site presence required (limited remote exceptions may apply)
- Travel: Approximately 20% to customer sites, suppliers, vendors, and Ironwood facilities
- Reports To: General Manager
- Direct Reports: Account Managers
- Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience
Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
