Front Desk Assistant / Cashier – Meat Market

Position Overview
The Front Desk Assistant/Cashier plays a key role in creating a welcoming customer experience at our meat market. You will handle customer transactions, process special meat orders, answer incoming calls, and maintain an organized, sanitary front counter. This role also works closely with our butchers to coordinate orders, pack meat products, and ensure compliance with food‑handling standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Cashiering — Operate the POS system, weigh meat products, process cash/card payments accurately, and maintain a balanced cash drawer.
- Customer Service — Greet customers, answer questions about cuts of meat, assist with holiday or bulk orders, and provide friendly, knowledgeable service.
- Front Desk Administration — Answer phone calls, schedule pick‑ups, direct inquiries to the correct department, and support daily store operations.
- Meat Counter & Inventory — Wrap, weigh, and label products; restock display cases; maintain a clean, sanitary work area in compliance with food safety guidelines.
Key Requirements & Skills
- Food Safety Knowledge — Basic understanding of food‑handling regulations; Texas Food Handler Card required or willingness to obtain.
- Communication Skills — Clear, friendly interpersonal skills to assist customers and coordinate with staff.
- Math & Technology — Ability to perform basic math, operate a cash register, and weigh products accurately.
- Physical Stamina — Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work near refrigerated areas.
- Attention to Detail — Strong organizational habits and accuracy in labeling, weighing, and order processing.
- Strong English language proficiency.
