Salesforce Business Analyst Needed at a Leading Hedge Fund
Location: New York, NY. Hybrid 3 days a week in office - Must be within commuting distance to be in the NYC office when requested.
Compensation: TBD, This is a contract position. You will sign a consulting agreement and be paid a per diem rate. Preference given to direct C2C candidates without a 3rd party.

WE NEED YOU:
The Investor Solutions team manages the technology platform primarily used by the Institutional and Retail (Private Wealth) sales teams to support prospect outreach, fundraising opportunities, sales territories, investor commitments and NAVs by fund, tax information, among other key data for sales and the firm. This includes Salesforce Financial Services Cloud as the key CRM system for data management and other applications used such as Pardot (Account Engagement), PBI/Tableau, SSRS and Excel. The team is constantly working with the business with training, automation, and other enhancements to achieve the highest possible data integrity within the scope of companies, contacts, opportunities and investment vehicles.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, intuitive, and curious IT business analyst and Salesforce administrator who can work directly with users to gather requirements, build reports, troubleshoot issues, and support our business users on a day-to-day basis. As a member of the Investor Solutions team, you would:
- Gain a deep understanding of the business and IT processes, logic, and applications supporting the fundraising team’s business functions and translate into clear process documents and visuals
- Become an expert on the data and how it is all interconnected, be able to easily tell whether a report looks correct, be able to help developers connect data with joins to obtain the correct results, answer questions about the data from the business
- Engage business teams on daily basis for constant improvements on the platform
- Suggest, implement, and test process improvements, especially leveraging prior experience in fundraising and marketing efforts, contacts management, events management, investor accounts, tax, and compliance reporting
- Interpret user requests in layman’s terms, translate that into technical tasks, and build new fields, workflows, and sophisticated and polished reports that will help the Sales team track activities, increase outreach rates, etc.
- Analyze various contact, company, and financial data to suggest and create new health checks or reconciliations, and work with the business team and IT team to maintain data quality
- Partner with the IT development team to design and provide clear requirements and visuals documentation on the product to be built via web applications, SQL queries, APIs, etc. for app integrations and write future development tickets with sufficient detail that a developer can interpret and work on or a QA team member can test without contextual knowledge
- Work with the QA team to develop test cases/scenarios as a part of the SDLC process and help them troubleshoot when there are data discrepancies or determine certain discrepancies are acceptable (and be able to explain why)
- Help the IT team stay organized by updating the Azure Boards ticketing system and track status updates for our deliverables, prioritize future tickets and determine which tickets will be assigned to each developer ahead of each monthly sprint. Communicate progress on those tickets to managers and key business stakeholders
- Research and test new potential applications for the team
- Serve as a primary tester of tickets in the DEV and UAT environments, as well as validate in PROD within 24 hours of a monthly sprint release
- Provide training to new users via one-on-one meetings with a screenshare demo
DESIRABLE SKILLS:
- Experience in prospects outreach and pipeline management in the finance industry, including PE and open-ended funds
- Experience with a finance oriented CRM (i.e., Salesforce), such as designing UIs, creating workflows, setting up fields, data uploads, building inline reporting
- Diagrams – taking descriptions of processes and converting into a meaningful diagram with swim lanes using apps like Visio or Lucid charts
- Excel – Pivot Tables, functions such as VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and combining various tabs of data into a meaningful summary for business users
- Power BI / Tableau – build reports from preset views or custom SQL queries, joining multiple data sources, adding Calculated Fields and Parameters to create a visual, interactive experience for business users
- SQL – Writing and editing basic queries based on preset views, ability to look at a query to help troubleshoot
- Deep understanding of how data is connected, comfortable joining different tabs in Excel at a minimum, ideally also able to join datasets within SQL
- Ability to communicate technical information with colleagues as well as senior management who may not have a technical background, be able to understand what a business user needs and explain that in technical terms to the development team
- Collaborate with power users and partner with other team members to arrive at the best possible solutions to problems presented by the business
- Meticulous attention to detail, ability to compare different datasets, determine how they differ and troubleshoot differences with QA team
- Commitment to data quality and completeness and is willing to perform some various tasks to ensure data accuracy
- Independent work ethic, highly organized and adaptable in a fast-paced, high stakes environment, ambition to proactively seek answers and improve process
