Sanskrit Teacher (TGT / Trained Graduate Teacher)

Role Overview :
The Sanskrit Teacher will deliver high-quality instruction in Sanskrit language and literature (Classes VI to X or as assigned), in line with the CBSE curriculum. They will create an engaging and disciplined learning environment, monitor student progress, participate in co-curricular activities, and contribute to the school’s academic and value-based ethos.
Key Responsibilities :
- Plan, prepare and deliver Sanskrit lessons (grammar, prose, poetry, translation, conversation) in alignment with CBSE syllabus and school guidelines.
- Use varied teaching methodologies (interactive sessions, storytelling, dialogues, role-play, digital tools) to foster interest and proficiency in students.
- Assess student learning through periodic tests, assignments, class participation, projects; maintain records and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain a classroom atmosphere that is nurturing, disciplined and inclusive; manage behaviour and motivate students.
- Collaborate with colleagues (other language teachers, co-curriculum staff) in designing interdisciplinary activities, cultural programmes, Sanskrit day celebrations etc.
- Communicate regularly with parents about student progress, areas of improvement and classroom expectations.
- Participate in staff meetings, curriculum development workshops and professional development sessions.
- Contribute to value-education, cultural traditions and the school’s mission of holistic education.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements :
- Graduate or Post-Graduate in Sanskrit (or related discipline) from a recognized university.
- B.Ed (or equivalent) qualification (preferred).
- Minimum of 2 – 3 years teaching experience in a reputed CBSE/ICSE school (preferred). Indeed+1
- Strong command of Sanskrit – reading, writing, translation and spoken (as per requirement).
- Good communication skills in English and Hindi; ability to engage with students, parents and colleagues.
- Proficiency in use of digital teaching tools, smart-classroom environment is an advantage.
- Passion for teaching, innovation in pedagogy, student-centred approach, ability to take initiative.
Desired Attributes :
- Creativity in lesson planning and ability to bring Sanskrit alive for students (e.g., via dialogues, theatre, recitation).
- Ability to mentor students for competitions (Sanskrit Olympiads, quiz, recitations etc).
- Team-player attitude, willingness to participate in school events beyond regular teaching hours.
- Commitment to upholding school values, maintaining professional conduct, punctuality and reliability.
