SAP Consultant – PI/BPM

Role Objective

Design, develop, maintain, migrate, and optimize SAP integration solutions that align

with organizations’s strategic business objectives and the S/4HANA transformation

project requirements. This role focuses on delivering high-quality custom interface

development and migration, including enhancements and extensibility aligned with the

clean core strategy, performance optimization, monitoring, debugging and issue

resolution, testing support, documentation, and knowledge transfer. The position

requires strong expertise in SAP PI, SAP PO, SAP Integration Suite, Edge Integration

Cell, and ensuring compliance with industry best practices and organizational

standards. The consultant will work closely with SAP, functional teams and external

system teams to achieve timely project execution and a successful go live.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain existing interfaces using SAP PI/PO (ESR & Integration Directory): service

interfaces, message/data types, operation mappings, message mappings (graphical,

XSLT, Java, and UDF), adapter configurations (IDoc, RFC, SOAP, REST, File/SFTP,

JDBC, Proxy, etc.), and secure communications across adapters; align with corporate

policies.

• Design and develop integration flow, message mapping, value mapping, function

libraries, etc. for A2A/B2B scenarios in SAP Integration Suite/Edge Integration Cell and

manage connectivity using HTTPS, SOAP, SFTP, IDoc, OData, etc.

• Activate and govern Integration Suite capabilities (Cloud Integration, API Management,

Open Connectors, Integration Advisor, Event Mesh, etc.), and assign roles/collections.

• Monitor and troubleshoot end-to-end message processing using PI, PO, Integration

Suite, and Edge Integration Cell tools, configure alerts, and manage transports across

landscapes.

• Plan and execute migrations from legacy SAP PI/PO to SAP Integration Suite/Edge

Integration Cell.

• Performance tuning for high-volume scenarios and optimize interface designs.

• Produce interface design documents, provide guidance to functional teams, and

participate in reviews and quality gate.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent.

• SAP Certified in at least one of the SAP Development Technologies.

Professional Experience

•Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as an SAP PI/PO/Integration Suite Developer, with involvement in at least 2 full life cycle implementation projects as Integration Developer.

•Working knowledge and development experience in at least three of the SAP modules: IS-OIL, HCM, FI-CO, SD, MM, PM, SCM, EHS, PS, BW, FM, BPC, and MOC.

•Experience in SAP PI/PO migration to SAP Integration Suite/Edge Integration Cell.

•Proficient in working with both SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA environments.

•Preferred experience in S/4HANA migration projects and Oil & Gas industry implementation.

Technical Skills

Expertise in:

•SAP PI/PO: hands-on experience with ESR & Integration Directory, interface design, message mappings (Graphical, XSLT, Java mapping, and UDF), and BPM/ccBPM.

•SAP Integration Suite: hands-on experience with Cloud Integration (iFlows, message mapping (Graphical, XSLT, and Groovy script), value mapping, function libraries, API management, and event mesh.

•SAP Edge Integration Cell: Knowledge of hybrid integration runtime, Kubernetes-based deployment, and local execution for compliance or latency-sensitive scenarios.

Strong understanding of:

•XML, JSON, XSLT, Groovy Script, HTTP(S), OData, SOAP, REST, SFTP, IDoc, and B2B adapters.

•mTLS authentication, OAuth 2.0, JWT, certificate management, cloud connector, and role-based access control.

•Designing and implementing event-driven integrations using SAP Event Mesh for real-time communication between SAP and third-party systems.

•PI/PO monitoring tools (RWB, PIMON, NWA), Integration Suite monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting.

•Migration from SAP PI/PO to SAP Integration Suite/Edge Integration Cell.

•Business Accelerator Hub (api.sap.com) to discover and implement whitelisted APIs for seamless data exchange between cloud and on-premise systems.

•Transport integration objects using BTP Cloud Transport Management Service (CTMS).

Familiarity with:

•SAP ECC and S/4HANA processes

•SAP ABAP and RAP development

•P BTP development using CAP, Node.js, and Java is an advantage.

•Version control and DevOps practices, including Git and CI/CD pipelines.
