Position Overview
SAP USA Truck & Auto Parts is seeking a Head Buyer to take ownership of day-to-day purchasing execution and supplier coordination. The Head Buyer will ensure timely placement of purchase orders, manage vendor communications, and monitor stock levels to support our fast-paced aftermarket distribution business.
This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong knowledge of auto parts categories. Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) is preferred to effectively manage communications with international suppliers.
Key Responsibilities

Execute purchase orders in line with company forecasts and vendor lead times.

Manage vendor communications for order confirmations, production status, and shipping schedules.

Track, monitor, and expedite shipments to ensure on-time delivery to warehouses.

Maintain and ensure purchasing team maintains accurate purchasing records and documentation in Netsuite system.

Review inventory levels and reorder points to prevent stock-outs or overstock.

Assist with vendor qualification, onboarding, and compliance documentation.

Support Purchasing Manager in negotiations and supplier performance reviews.

Monitor and communicate potential supply chain risks or delays.

Provide reporting on order status, backorders, and vendor KPIs.

Collaborate with logistics to coordinate inbound freight and customs clearance.

Supervise and mentor a team of Buyers, ensuring workload distribution and adherence to purchasing policies.

Manage escalations with suppliers regarding pricing, delays, shortages, or quality issues.

Lead process improvement initiatives within the purchasing team to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.

3+ years of purchasing or buying experience preferably in the automotive aftermarket or industrial distribution.

Familiarity with international procurement and shipping practices.
Skills

Working knowledge of auto parts (electrical, drivetrain, suspension, clutch, engine management, etc.).

ERP/ACES or similar system proficiency for purchase orders and cost tracking.

Strong Excel/data skills for order tracking and vendor reporting.

Basic knowledge of tariffs, HTS codes, and customs clearance.

Detail-oriented with strong follow-up and time-management skills.

Excellent communication and vendor relationship management.

Bilingual (English/Spanish preferred; Mandarin a plus).
