The Role
We are seeking a confident, engaging, and highly skilled in-person SAT and SHSAT ELA Tutor to join our team at our Brooklyn, NY 11229 location.
This role is focused on helping middle school and high school students strengthen their reading comprehension, grammar, writing, vocabulary, test-taking strategies, timing, and confidence. The ideal candidate can explain difficult concepts clearly, keep students engaged, and help students make measurable progress.
What You’ll Do
* Teach small-group SAT and SHSAT ELA classes, typically 2–8 students.
* Tutor 1-on-1 private SAT and SHSAT ELA students.
* Help students improve reading comprehension, grammar, writing, and test-taking skills.
* Identify student weaknesses and adjust instruction to support progress.
* Use Ace It Academics-provided materials for group lessons.
* Provide students with timing, pacing, and test anxiety strategies.
* Report student progress internally and occasionally provide updates to parents.
* Create a positive, professional, and results-focused learning environment.
Requirements
* Must be available for in-person tutoring in Brooklyn, NY 11229.
* Bachelor’s degree required.
* Prior teaching or tutoring experience preferred.
* Strong SAT and/or SHSAT score required.
* Strong understanding of SAT ELA and SHSAT ELA content.
* Ability to explain grammar, reading, and writing concepts clearly.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Reliable, punctual, professional, and organized.
* Passionate about helping students improve academically and build confidence.
Compensation & Schedule
* $25.00–$40.00 per hour (depending on experience, qualifications, and the size/type of lesson being taught).
* Part-time independent contractor / 1099 role.
* Flexible hours, typically 4–20 hours per week.
* Tutors are compensated for active teaching hours.
* Open hours: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–9:00 PM, and Saturday–Sunday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM.
* High-performing tutors are prioritized for additional hours and higher-paying lessons.
