SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

Responsible for accurately weighing inbound and outbound log trucks, recording load data, and maintaining scale operations to support production, inventory, and supplier tracking. This role also supports mill operations through administrative functions and cross-training in equipment operations to assist with production flow as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate computerized scale system to weigh trucks (loaded and empty) and accurately record weights
• Verify and input supplier, trucking company, and customer information into system
• Prepare, print, and distribute scale tickets and packing documentation
• Ensure all data entry is accurate, complete, and timely
• Maintain organized logs, records, and filing systems for scale tickets and related documentation
• Prepare and distribute weekly waste and production-related reports
• Communicate effectively with drivers, vendors, and internal departments
• Support production tracking through completion of daily tallies, downtime tracking, and reports
• Participate in action planning and continuous improvement processes
• Cross-train to safely assist with basic equipment operations and production support tasks as needed
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

• Attend meetings as required
• Provide administrative support across office functions as needed
• Cross-train on scale operations, office procedures, and sales support functions
• Assist managers and supervisors with special projects and operational needs
• Support other departments during high-volume periods or staffing needs

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
• Working knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, including recordkeeping and data entry
• Proficient in computer systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong typing and data entry skills
• Effective communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Basic mathematical skills required for weighing and data accuracy
• Ability to learn and safely perform basic equipment operations as part of cross-training
• Strong attention to detail and decision-making ability

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

• Follow all company safety policies and office safety procedures

When in mill or production areas:

• Follow all area and machine-specific safety regulations
• Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hardhat, safety glasses, and hearing protection
• Do not enter restricted areas
• Report unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment immediately
• Request assistance when tasks exceed individual knowledge or capability
• Visually inspect equipment and surrounding area prior to operation
• Follow standard lockout/tagout procedures when applicable
• Use proper lifting techniques at all times
• Never approach operating machinery until it has come to a complete stop
