School-Age Assistant Teacher

Duties

  • Assist in managing classroom activities and routines to promote a structured and positive learning environment for school-age children.
  • Support children with homework, tutoring, and skill-building exercises to reinforce their academic progress.
  • Implement age-appropriate activities such as sports coaching, arts and crafts, theater, or other enrichment programs to encourage creativity and physical development.
  • Maintain safety by supervising children during indoor activities, outdoor play, field trips, and special events.
  • Use behavior management techniques to foster respectful interactions and address behavioral challenges constructively.
  • Support staff in implementing individualized plans for children with special education needs or behavioral considerations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols, including basic first aid procedures when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp, tutoring, or childcare is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of classroom management strategies and childhood development principles.
  • Certification or training in first aid and CPR is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and children.
  • Ability to engage children actively through sports coaching, theater activities, or other creative outlets.
  • Familiarity with behavior management techniques and special education practices is a plus.
