We are searching for a dedicated School Age Teacher who is passionate about inspiring young learners and supporting families.


The School Age Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing activities that promote the social, physical, and intellectual growth of children in our School Age program. This role models best practices in care, hygiene, learning, and development—and holds others accountable for maintaining high standards.

The teacher communicates regularly with parents, maintains classroom order and cleanliness, and ensures each child’s safety and well-being. This position may also support Preschool classrooms as needed, following Building Kidz Preschool’s curriculum and goals.

General Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service and positive engagement with families.
  • Maintain compliance with all Building Kidz policies and state regulations (including mandated reporter requirements).
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and follow all call-in procedures.
  • Assist with daily center operations; use time effectively and efficiently.
  • Attend required meetings, professional development, and special events.
  • Model and support Building Kidz’s mission, values, philosophy, and curriculum.
  • Greet children and families at drop-off and pick-up with professionalism and warmth.
  • Support accreditation standards and uphold licensing regulations.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, professional demeanor, and appropriate dress code.

Program Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
  • Ensure daily schedules include a balance of indoor/outdoor, quiet/active, group/individual, and child/staff-led activities.
  • Create and maintain positive learning environments.
  • Participate in child assessments, evaluations, portfolios, and parent conferences.
  • Seek assistance when needed and support colleagues.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth and implement best practices.
  • Transportation Responsibilities
    • Safely operate company vehicles for local school pick-ups and drop-offs.
    • Follow all state, federal, and company transportation guidelines.
    • Ensure proper child loading/unloading procedures and safety restraints.
    • Maintain accurate transportation logs and head counts.
    • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip safety checks on vehicles.
    • Communicate any transportation concerns or maintenance needs to the Director immediately.

Classroom Responsibilities

  • Maintain continuous safety supervision; complete regular safety checks.
  • Ensure accurate headcounts at all times, name-to-face.
  • Set up the classroom to support supervision and learning.
  • Perform routine housekeeping (e.g., wiping spills, sanitizing surfaces).
  • Support children’s hygiene needs (handwashing, wiping faces, etc.).
  • Complete assigned tasks and show initiative by seeking additional responsibilities.

Team & Family Interactions

  • Collaborate with colleagues and resolve conflicts.
  • Share ideas, communicate effectively, and work toward common goals.
  • Build trusting relationships with families and discuss children’s development comfortably.
  • Act as a positive team player and role model.
  • Participate in occasional off-site team-building activities.

Experience

  • 1–3 years of teaching or childcare experience required.
  • 1+ year experience with school-age children preferred.
  • Must meet all state experience criteria.

Education & Certifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must meet all state education requirements.
  • 24 ECE units or CDA preferred.
  • Valid AZ Drivers Licence

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Stand and move for up to 95% of the workday.
  • Frequent bending, sitting on the floor, and transitioning from low to standing positions.
  • Participate in active play indoors and outdoors (running, jumping, dancing).
  • Must have adequate hearing and vision.
  • 9-6 Daily Shift
