School-Age/Recreation Teacher

Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic School-Age/Recreation Teacher to inspire and engage children during after-school hours, summer camps, and recreational programs. In this role, you will create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can learn, grow, and have fun. Your enthusiasm for working with children and your ability to manage dynamic groups will help foster positive experiences that support childhood development and social skills. Duties

  • Develop and implement engaging recreational activities, educational games, arts and crafts projects, and sports programs tailored to school-age children’s interests and developmental needs
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management techniques and classroom management strategies
  • Supervise children during activities, ensuring safety and adherence to program guidelines at all times
  • Provide first aid when necessary and maintain a safe environment by following health and safety protocols
  • Support children with special education needs by adapting activities and providing individualized assistance as needed
  • Collaborate with parents, guardians, and team members to communicate progress, concerns, or behavioral issues
  • Incorporate Christian counseling principles when appropriate to promote emotional well-being and moral development
  • Lead tutoring sessions or academic support activities to reinforce learning in core subjects like reading, math, or science
  • Organize themed events or theatrical performances to encourage creativity and self-expression
  • Assist with camp planning, including scheduling activities that promote childhood development and social interaction

Experience

  • Prior experience working with children in educational settings such as daycare centers, summer camps, after-school programs, or tutoring environments is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development stages
  • Experience managing groups of children with diverse needs using effective behavior management techniques
  • Certifications in first aid and CPR are required; additional certifications in special education or childcare are a plus
  • Familiarity with sports coaching, theater arts, babysitting, or Christian counseling enhances your ability to connect with children across various activities
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining a positive attitude towards children’s growth and safety
