POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is a daytime school year-based contract (approx. 10 months) that reports to Media Rhythm Institute’s Director of Programming. Instructors will implement a media arts curriculum and produce various youth visual projects. Instruction will start at the beginning of School Year 2024, but the position will begin immediately.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Implementation of arts curriculum for school-age youth and teens.
- Development of lesson plans.
- Youth instruction on the basic concepts of using a video camera and similar devices to capture film/ create media content in digital form. Various mediums used.
- Edit youth film projects.
- Lead youth through the process of creating visual media content/final products.
- Work alongside collaborative team to produce artistic content.
SALARY & HOURS: This is a full-time school year- long contract (10 months). Classes run M-F within the windows of 7:30am-3:00pm (class times and days may range within that frame)
Entry Instructors receive $20 an hour.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Preferred candidates should be:
- Able to see, talk, and hear.
- Have access to reliable technology, including computer and equipment
- Comfortable with video conferencing software.
- Sit and stand.
- Able to climb stairs, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
- Have reliable transportation
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION:
Preferred candidates should:
- Possess an HS Diploma. Some College is a bonus
- Must be able to operate: Photoshop, Adobe Premier, Final Cut (other editing programs accepted)
- Be familiar with local trends and hip-hop culture
- Have experience working with youth and/or teens in formal settings
- Be able to pass background and federal, state, and local fingerprint checks.
- Be able to communicate and interact effectively with school personnel, students, and parents.
- Be able to respond to emergency situations while demonstrating appropriate professionalism and restraint at all times.
- Have personal equipment
- Be able to produce a personal portfolio or current and/or past work that demonstrates the ability and skills to perform required duties.
- Passion for working with children and young adults; dedication to development and positive outcomes.
- Minimum 1-3 years experience in a field producing media projects.
- Ability to manage a classroom of up to 20.
- Excellent communication.
