Experience:
  • 5 years’ school management/leadership.
  • Experience in middle/high school settings.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing behaviour intervention plans in a school or educational setting.
  • Demonstrated success in coaching and mentoring staff to improve behaviour management practices.
  • Experience in supporting whole-school culture change and embedding consistent behaviour systems.
  • Skilled in analysing behavioural data and using it to drive decision-making and strategy refinement.
  • Experience working collaboratively with school leadership, multi-disciplinary teams, parents, and external agencies.

Competencies:
Outstanding performance and teaching experience in the UAE. Strong knowledge and experience of international/national curriculum. Experience with inspection, accreditation and evaluation frameworks such as CIS, NEASC, IB, BSO, and ADEK. Excellent communication skills and command of the English language, in spoken and written form. A collaborative team-player with excellent personal skills. A flexible, leader capable of managing growth and instilling high standards. Understanding of strategic planning, knowledge of child protection and health and safety, experience in developing and/or sustaining high performance teams, highly effective relationship management with a variety of stakeholders.

Primary Job Purpose:

Working closely alongside and under the direction of the Charter School Director, the Behavioural Specialist is responsible for providing expertise in the assessment, development, and implementation of behaviour support strategies that enhance student engagement, wellbeing, and learning outcomes. The role will focus on working with Principals to support and build a consistent, whole-school culture where behaviour expectations are clear, routines are embedded, and staff are equipped with practical tools to promote positive behaviour. The Behavioural Specialist will work closely with the Principal and Senior Leadership Team to strengthen behaviour systems, ensuring they are effective, consistent, and applied across the setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Intervention & On-the-Ground Support
  • Provide in-class and on-the-ground support to staff and students to address immediate behaviour needs.
  • Model effective, evidence-based behaviour management strategies in real time.
  • Offer side-by-side coaching to staff during lessons and school activities to embed agreed approaches into daily practice.
  • Adjust interventions using ongoing observation, feedback, and data.
Whole-School Behaviour Improvement
  • Actively support the Principal and SLT in improving behaviour management and ensuring consistency across the school.
  • Contribute to creating and embedding clear, simple, and consistently applied behaviour systems.
  • Promote high expectations for all students, underpinned by clear routines, predictable responses, and visible adult presence in all school areas.
  • Support the leadership team in developing a shared school culture that is understood and upheld by all staff.

Al Salam School - A Taaleem Charter School
