JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATE I-9 MONTH – HEALTH AIDE
Qualifications:
1. First Aid/CPR certified or willing to obtain.
2. Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills.
3. Ability to perform tasks accurately and work under the stress of timelines.
4. Strong skill set with technology use including: Microsoft, Google, PowerSchool (or similar student information system). Able to perform computer technology tasks associated with the position.
5. Excellent organizational skills and recordkeeping ability.
6. Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
7. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
8. Demonstrate skills in problem solving and conflict management.
9. Pediatric work experience and/or training in health care.
10. High school diploma required, CNA licensure preferred.
Reports To: District Nursing Staff or Building Administration
Job Goal: The Health Aide administers first aid, care for ill students, and dispenses prescribed medications under the direction of the district nursing staff to support health room needs. The individual will assist with vision and hearing screening, assists with student care, and maintains confidential student health records.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Adhere to HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.
2. Administer emergency first aid per school emergency guidelines/procedures. (ex- nausea, seizures, dizziness, headaches, allergies, etc.)
3. Administer medications (oral, inhaled, injected or other) to students under the direction of the district nursing staff.
4. Handle body fluids and waste materials as directed.
5. Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
6. Communicate with students, teachers, counselors, parents about health related questions as directed by the district nursing staff.
7. Maintain stock of medical and office supplies accurately.
8. Assist the district nursing staff with vision and hearing screenings.
9. Perform data entry of medical information, immunizations records, answering calls, field trip preparation, etc. and maintain accurate health records for students.
10. Provide specialized health care procedures such as blood glucose testing, respiratory assistance, tube feedings, catheterization, etc.
Terms: Nine month year. Wage and work year to be set by the Board.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Ashwaubenon Educational Support Staff Employee Handbook.
