Library Operations & Management
- Manage day-to-day operations of the school library, ensuring a clean, organized, welcoming, and resource-rich environment.
- Maintain accurate cataloguing, circulation, shelving, and inventory of books and resources.
- Develop and implement library policies, borrowing systems, schedules, and upkeep routines.
- Oversee procurement of books and resources based on curriculum needs, student interests, and reading-level requirements.
- Track library budgets, vendor coordination, book repairs, and material replacements.
Building a Joyful Reading Culture
- Create engaging displays, reading corners, theme weeks, and interactive boards to spark curiosity and excitement.
- Lead schoolwide reading events such as DEAR time, book clubs, author visits, storytelling sessions, and reading challenges.
- Support teachers with library classes for read-alouds, book sets, levelled reading materials, and recommendations.
- Offer personalized book guidance to students based on reading level and interests.
Student & Teacher Support
- Teach basic library skills: choosing books, using library systems, caring for books, and research fundamentals.
- Support literacy goals by collaborating with teachers to integrate library resources into lessons
- Support an after-school library program open to students and parents, fostering reading engagement beyond school hours.
- Work closely with teachers to ensure library resources support classroom units, projects, and reading goals.
Resource Management & Technology
- Maintain and update the digital library system (catalogue, circulation software, inventories).
- Support students in using online research tools safely and effectively.
- Explore and integrate digital reading platforms, e-books, and multimedia resources.
Data, Reporting & Accountability
- Track student borrowing patterns, library footfall, and reading engagement data.
- Maintain monthly reports on library use, book circulation, new additions, and reading programs.
- Ensure library resources align with curriculum needs and student learning outcomes.
What you need for this Position
Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in library management (mandatory)
- Strong organizational and cataloguing skills.
- Passion for children’s literature and promoting reading.
- Tech-friendly: able to manage digital catalog systems and basic digital literacy tools.
- Excellent communication skills and child-friendly approach.
- Ability to create an inclusive, joyful, and safe library environment.
- Prior experience working in a school library or educational environment.
