School Psychologist: .5 FTE
Reports to: Executive Director of Special Education
Location: Winlock School District
Purpose: The job of School Psychologist is done for the purpose/s of assessing, measuring, and interpreting the intellectual, adaptive, academic, social, and emotional development of students; interpreting results of psychological studies; interpreting and applying state and federal codes; and developing strategies and interventions to address the special education needs of eligible students.

Essential Functions

Assesses students in a range of areas (e.g., intellect, adaptive skills, academic abilities, social and emotional development, behavior, etc.) for the purpose of determining student eligibility for services, developing behavior plans, and making recommendations.

Collaborates with a variety of groups and individuals (e.g., parents, teachers, physicians, administration, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues, and providing services in conformance with established guidelines.

Compiles information from a variety of sources (e.g., teachers, nurse, probation officer, mental health agencies, etc.) for the purpose of producing a comprehensive evaluation report in compliance with state and federal guidelines.

Consults with a variety of stakeholders (e.g., teachers, parents, other personnel, outside professionals, etc.) for the purpose of providing requested information, developing plans for services, making recommendations, and coordinating services with those of other disciplines.

Develops a variety of programs and plans (e.g., behavior plans, curriculum modifications, prevention programs, etc.) for the purpose of meeting individual student requirements while complying with district, state, and federal policies and regulations.

Integrates specialized field within the PreK-12 learning environment for the purpose of assisting students in achieving their learning goals set forth in the Individual Education Plans (IEP).

Interprets medical reports to provide information and ensure appropriate treatment plans.

Maintains documents, files, and records (e.g., evaluation reports, student files, treatment plans, quarterly reports, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of information while complying with district, state, and federal policies and regulations.

Manages special materials, equipment, and the learning environment essential to specialized programs, providing materials and equipment conducive to student achievement and ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment.

Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g., training, IEPs, team meetings, parent conferences, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and gathering information.

Performs site visits at multiple work sites, including home visits for the purpose of providing services and assistance as required.

Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g., behavior plans, Medicaid billings, required documentation, Psych Ed Summary, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and conveying information.

Provides direct services and specialized assistance to eligible students and parents (e.g., needs identification, treatment, information, etc.) to meet students' needs while complying with district, state, and federal policies and regulations.

Researches a variety of work-related topics (e.g., intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources, changing regulations, etc.) for the purpose of determining the appropriate approach for addressing student needs while complying with district, state, and federal policies and regulations.

Responds to inquiries from a variety of stakeholders (e.g., parents, teachers, students, outside agencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and referral as appropriate while complying with district, state, and federal policies and regulations.

Reviews transfer records for the purpose of complying with Washington Administrative Codes while ensuring that a legally sound IEP/Eligibility report is in place.
Peripheral Functions:

Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Preferred Qualifications:

At least five years of successful special education experience.

Ability to speak Spanish.

School counseling or Board-Certified Behavior Analyst certification.

Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Education (Minimum): Master's degree in a job-related area.
Experience: Job-related experience within a specialized field is required.
Certificates and Licenses
Eligibility for Washington State ESA Certification as a School Psychologist.
Possession of a Washington State School Psychologist license.
Valid Driver’s License & Evidence of Insurability.

Work schedule: .5 FTE (180 days per school year)
The physical work location for this position will be at Winlock Miller Elementary School and Winlock Middle High School.
