School Psychologist (2026-2027 School Year)

POSITION:

  • Base: 7 hours per day, 5 days per week - 180 days
  • Enrichment Days: 5 Additional Days
  • Extra Days: 5 Days after school year

BASE SALARY: per RSD Certificated Salary Schedule

SUMMARY:

Participates as a member of multidisciplinary team in the assessment and program evaluation for students to enable all students to function to their highest possible level within the educational system. Acts as a liaison with medical and community service providers on behalf of children and their families in the areas of mental health, behavior, social and emotional skills.


EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Conduct student observations, functional behavioral assessments, and facilitate behavior intervention plans.
  • Participate in activities that promote professional development for district initiatives as well as in the specialty field, and use clinical-educational research information to enhance services for students and families.
  • Facilitate and/or participate in department/special education meetings, manifestation determination meetings, FBA/BIP meetings, eligibility, evaluation, and placement meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with total district staff in an atmosphere of cooperation and collegiality.
  • Participate as a team member with responsibility for the identification, eligibility, and placement of students with disabilities under IDEA-B or Section 504.
  • Produce and maintain student records, including, but not limited to, special education reports, sensitive confidential records, behavioral data, assessment results, cumulative records, orders, and inventory, in a timely and orderly fashion.
  • Consult with families and community medical and social service agencies in coordinating services and home programs.
  • Adhere to the ethical standards and codes of the profession and to the established rules, regulations and laws governing special education programs.
  • Administers standardized and/or supplemental assessments for the purpose of measuring the intellectual, adaptive, academic, social and emotional development of children and/or determining eligibility for services in conformance with state and federal regulations.
  • Coordinates meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g. evaluation/screening, IEPs, parent conferences, manifestation meetings, disciplinary proceedings, services with outside agencies, etc.) for the purpose of presenting evaluation results, developing behavior plans, and/or providing information in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Participates in eligibility meetings, IEP meetings, and disciplinary review meetings at various schools within the division, as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in job-related area
  • Targeted, job-related education with study in job-related area. Expertise in word processing and willingness to learn the Special Education software system (currently IEP Online)
  • Strong coursework and background in evaluations, Washington State eligibility for Special Education services, and the laws and regulations governing IDEA-B, and Special Education services.
Certificates and Licenses:
  • WA State ESA Certificate as School Psychologist

Continuing Education/Training:
  • Maintains Certificates and/or Licenses

Clearances:
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
  • WA State Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Release
