Science Teacher

Overview
High School Science Teacher to plan and deliver differentiated instruction for students 7-12, with IEPs. Dual certification in Students with Disabilities OR willingness to work towards extension once hired is required. Salary/Pay Rate: Per Contract (Mt. Pleasant Cottage School Teachers Contract) We also particiate in the NYSTR.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards that incorporate the latest educational technology and instructional strategies.
• Deliver engaging lectures and facilitate interactive classroom activities that cater to diverse learning styles.
• Conduct laboratory experiments, dissections, and research projects to enhance practical understanding of biological, chemical, and physical concepts.
• Develop assessments, including standardized tests and formative evaluations, to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
• Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment that encourages participation and curiosity.
• Provide individualized tutoring and academic advising to support students’ unique learning needs and goals.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, research initiatives, and extracurricular science programs to enrich the educational experience.

Experience

• Prior classroom experience in science education at the middle or high school level is essential.
• Demonstrated expertise in multiple scientific disciplines.
• Strong knowledge of instructional design principles, lesson planning, and assessment strategies tailored for diverse learners.
• Experience working with students with special education needs settings is preferred.
