Science/History Teacher

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Science/History Teacher to inspire and educate students in both scientific inquiry and historical understanding. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement comprehensive lesson plans that integrate science and history topics, aligning with curriculum standards and learning objectives
  • Utilize diverse teaching methods and learning technologies to engage students actively in lessons, experiments, and discussions
  • Assess student progress through quizzes, tests, projects, and standardized assessments; provide constructive feedback to support growth
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive, inclusive learning environment conducive to exploration and discovery
  • Incorporate laboratory activities such as dissection, microscopy, and research experiments in biology, chemistry, and related sciences
  • Develop innovative instructional materials and resources to enhance understanding of complex concepts like organic chemistry, biochemistry, genetics, calculus, differential equations, and discrete math
  • Mentor students individually or in groups to support academic achievement, especially in higher education preparation or specialized science programs
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and school-wide initiatives to improve educational outcomes
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and participation; prepare reports for administration as needed
  • Engage with parents and guardians through conferences or communications to discuss student progress and foster a supportive educational partnership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education with specialization or certification in Science or History; advanced degrees preferred
  • Proven classroom experience teaching science (biology, chemistry, physics) or history at various grade levels; face to face school experience is advantageous
  • Familiarity with classroom management strategies and behavior management techniques to foster a productive learning environment
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging students effectively and collaborating with colleagues and parents
  • Experience preparing students for standardized testing; tutoring skills beneficial for supporting individual student needs
  • Knowledge of special education practices or Montessori methodologies is a plus; commitment to ongoing professional development in education administration or research laboratory experience is valued

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $3.00 - $10.00 per hour
