The Scientific Director is responsible for developing and managing content for continuing education (CME/CE) and independent medical education (IME) programs that include live, online, and print-based formats.

Develop content for medical education activities for live, online, and print-based programs; create new content and/or edit content submitted by freelancers or faculty members; identify and work collaboratively with expert faculty members and writers; assign projects to freelance contributors and supporting staff; prepare/finalize content for publication or presentation

Attend and/or participate remotely in key medical conferences; contribute to the editing and/or writing of conference coverage programs, including text- and PowerPoint-based activities.

Utilizing the Playbook to manage a workload consisting of multiple projects with one or more content components; ensure quality standards, and on-time completion of all deliverables.

Execute activities in alignment with CEA Playbook quality, hours and SOPs to ensure all activities pass quality audit and meet live revision standards.

Maintain and/or grow strategic relationships with key faculty.

Working with KOL relationships identify educational gaps and funding resources to advance HCP education.

Identify and recruit KOL that will collaborate and share the education with peers.

Identify and build relationships with up-and-coming KOL faculty.

Ability to manage multiple projects that may be complex (e.g., online interactive treatment decision support tools) and in developing CME-specific content components (e.g., developing and analyzing questions for outcomes assessments)

Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills (oral and written)

Ability to function independently with effective time management, organization, and project management skills; attention to detail; ability to manage diverse tasks to deliver projects on time, within budget, and at a high level of quality

Ability to work collaboratively in teams both within the company and externally (e.g., faculty, freelancers, and educational partners)

3-5 years of recent experience writing, developing, and editing CME/CE activities

BA/BS degree (Biological Sciences, English, or Communications preferred). Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, NP/APN, MBA) preferred

Working knowledge of recent advances in clinical medicine and therapeutics. Direct clinical experience preferred.

Experience identifying and working with faculty members/key opinion leaders on educational materials intended for professional medical audiences

Experience developing CME/CE-certified programs and familiarity with ACCME, ACPE, and ANCC as well as other regulatory agencies’ guidelines and policies in relation to commercially supported educational activities

Working knowledge of AMA style requirements

Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and familiarity with online medical reference resources

Clinical or research experience will be considered in lieu of CME/CE experience

Experience managing content development in a range of CME formats (ideally including PowerPoint presentations, case-based activities, video presentations, and interactive digital media)

Experience working with expert faculty members/key opinion leaders to determine educational needs and develop educational content

Experience writing grant proposals for CME/IME programs

Up to 30% of the time

Domestic and international travel
