Scientific Software Developer (full stack)

Description

The Korem Lab in the Department of Systems Biology at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a full-stack Scientific Software Developer (Staff Associate I) who will be in charge of developing user-friendly software for study design optimization, for use by the broad scientific community.

Duties:

• Develop user interface and web service that would make existing algorithms and software available and usable by the scientific community.
• Collaborate with researchers within and outside the lab.
• Implement and evaluate new algorithms.
• Obtain and implement user feedback.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
• At least two years of proven experience as a full-time, full-stack software developer.
• Proven proficiency in either Python or R.
• Mastery of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or modern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Proficiency with version control systems.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience developing scalable algorithms for analysis of molecular data.
• Experience working with biological scientific data outside of electronic health records and claims data.
• Understanding of statistics, mathematics, and related software.
• Experience working with data science software packages in Python.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
