Overview
Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for a Scientist I / II (Chemist) in Richland, WA.
This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).
Essential Functions And Job Responsibilities
The Analytical Control group provides a myriad of technical services to the analytical work groups at the 222-S Laboratory. Analytical Control performs scheduling, project management, performance tracking, provides IT services, and other functions as necessary to support smooth operation and continued performance of the 222-S Laboratory.
The ideal candidate will be a senior member of the group, identifying and leading organizational level projects and initiatives to improve analytical performance.
Tasks Will Include
Manage implementation of a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) schedule within the next three years. Manage vendor performance and coordinate the implementation and testing activities, including schedule management, risk analysis, status reporting, communications, and other tasks as necessary. The project will interface with numerous stakeholders, including Analytical Operations staff, Department of Energy, vendors, Quality Assurance, Procurement, and other departments as needs arise. Review project deliverables and hold meetings for technical requirements and deadlines for successful LIMS implementation. Review and approve invoices related to ongoing implementation schedule.
Provide subject matter expertise on technical issues ranging from method validation, introduction of new technologies, and improving turnaround times for clients.
Interface with other Hanford contractors to develop five- to ten-year sampling schedules and provide solutions on meeting deliverables.
Provide project status updates with recommendations on current sample loads, projected arrivals, and strategies for meeting deliverables.
Provide analytical project schedules and reports to the laboratory line managers with data derived from the (LIMS).
Provide peer checking to team members and other departments.
Create client project schedules and laboratory method development schedules using Oracle Primavera P6 software, soliciting task status, and updating schedules on a weekly basis.
Assist with laboratory work capacity models and client work commitment planning.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
BS in Chemistry or related scientific discipline and 7 years of Analytical laboratory experience
Candidate will be a proficient user of Microsoft Office programs (particularly Word and Excel)
Project management experience
Desired Qualifications
BS in Chemistry or related scientific discipline and 10 years of Analytical laboratory experience
Project Management skills including Field Execution Schedules and familiarity with Oracle Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar project management / scheduling software
Development and execution of project management plans
Familiarity with the software development life cycle
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, data models, and other advanced functionality
Analytical laboratory experience in environmental laboratory performing SW-846-type work and/or in a radiological setting
Compensation
Grade 18: $106,663 - $134,588
Grade 20: $129,063 - $162,688
