Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Scientist II to join our Pharma LAB – R&D Team at our Hyderabad LAB office. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Research & Development function. This position will report to the Team Leader - Pharma R&D .

Area of Responsibility (business specifics):

• Comply with company procedural guidelines, laboratory procedures, and safety programs.
• Provides technical and application development support to sales colleagues and pharmaceutical industry customers.
• Work with senior technical team in providing technical expertise regarding the development of pharmaceutical products.
• Designing, initiating and executing studies, and interpreting the study results
• Assimilating and analyzing data into reports, posters, and journal articles.
• Preparing technical presentations for internal and external customers at customer sites, scientific conferences and trade shows.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and work in high pressure environment.
• Maintaining lab notebooks and logbooks in accordance with company guidelines

Desired Candidate Skills/Experience:

• Fundamental understanding on product development of solid dosage forms, injectables and polymer-based drug-delivery systems
• Proficient in technical understanding of customer end-use application.
• Hands-on experience with solubilization technologies such as spray drying and hot-melt extrusion.
• Hands-on experience with solid-oral pharmaceutical unit operations such as wet and dry granulation, tableting, tablet coating and fluid-bed processing/coating.
• Hands-on experience in formulation development of injectable dosage forms - PFS, Injections, depot injections and handling of machinery/equipment related to parenteral dosage forms.
• Working knowledge on formulation characterization and related analytical techniques
• Working knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE), Microsoft Office Suite, and statistical analysis.
• Ability to organize and maintain lab area in a safe professional manner.
• Understanding of safety, housekeeping and good lab practices and good documentation practices.
• Strong written and oral presentation skills
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Time management
• Teamwork/interpersonal skill.
