About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join our Medical Device Product Development team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, verification, and validation of innovative medical technologies that improve patient outcomes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners—including R&D and quality—to translate scientific insights into market-ready products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support R&D activities for new medical device concepts, prototypes, and materials.
- Design and execute experiments to evaluate device performance, biocompatibility, safety, and reliability.
- Analyze data, prepare technical reports, and present results to internal stakeholders.
- Participate in risk assessments, design reviews, and technical documentation throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Support verification and validation testing in accordance with FDA and ISO/IEC standards (e.g., ISO 10993, ISO 13485).
- Collaborate with project teams to refine product requirements, test methods, and design specifications.
- Contribute to design transfer processes by preparing supporting documentation.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, materials, and scientific literature relevant to medical devices.
Qualifications
Required:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific discipline.
- 2–5+ years of experience in medical device R&D, product development, or a regulated scientific environment.
- Hands-on experience with analytical methods, experimental design, and data interpretation.
- Understanding of FDA 21 CFR Part 820, design controls, and relevant ISO standards.
- Strong technical writing skills and ability to document research clearly and accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with medical device testing (mechanical, chemical, biological, or usability).
- Familiarity with biocompatibility, material selection, or polymer/biomaterial testing.
- Prior involvement in design and development, verification/validation, risk management.
- Experience with some of the following: Tissue culture/aseptic technique, mechanical characterization and rheology, chemical synthesis, microscopy, and various analytical methods (e.g. HPLC, NMR, spectroscopy).
