Scribe (1.0 FTE)
Position Overview
Play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care by supporting physicians in a fast-paced clinical environment. As a Scribe, you will be responsible for accurately capturing all findings during patient examinations within the electronic medical record (EMR). In addition, you will assist with prescriptions, recall details, and patient education—ensuring each patient receives thorough and high-quality eye care.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities

Assist physicians during patient examinations

Document patient records based on physician findings throughout the exam

Record billing information to support accurate financial processing

Accurately capture all exam-related documentation, including route slips, consent forms, glasses prescriptions, medication prescriptions, and MRI/CT/lab order forms

Develop and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with all Clinic employees

Ensure exam rooms are fully stocked with necessary supplies

Assist with patient calls, including triaging urgent concerns and determining appropriate scheduling

Complete patient medication refill requests

Prepare and complete FMLA paperwork for patients

Assist with scheduling patient appointments and obtaining prior authorizations for imaging (e.g., CT scans, MRI)

Perform other duties as assigned
Work Relationship and Scope
Scribes work in close partnership with physicians, patients, and clinic staff to ensure a seamless care experience. This role reports directly to the Manager of Clinical Support.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

High School Diploma

and the OSC (Ophthalmic Scribe Certification) through JCHAPO is encouraged within the first year.

Understanding of medical terminology

Demonstrated knowledge of safe and efficient use of medical and office equipment

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced medical environment while maintaining HIPAA compliance

Relevant customer service experience

Ability to treat patients as individuals, recognizing and responding to their unique needs
Work Conditions
Eye Clinic of Wisconsin operates across multiple locations. While each employee is assigned a primary (“home”) location, travel to satellite clinics is required. Work hours will vary based on clinic needs. This role requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods and may involve occasional lifting (up to 30 pounds), as well as bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs.
