The Access Services Representative 1 gets accurate demographics and insurance information. This helps register patients, verify insurance benefits, and collect patient financial responsibilities.<h4 class="jobSectionHeader">
Essential Functions of the Role</h4><ul><li>
Conducts and documents patient interviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration, insurance verification, precertification and billing.</li><li>
Registers patients at multiple locations and works in different department areas. Knows the patient flow processes in each area. Identifies process improvement opportunities that promote team concepts with co-workers. Improves revenue cycle functions and the patient experience.</li><li>
Interacts regularly with other areas and departments to provide information on patient delays and schedule changes.</li><li>

Banner - University Medical Center South is a comprehensive academic medical center that includes an Emergency department, a state-designated trauma center and a Behavioral Health Pavilion. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is the first point of contact at healthcare facilities and assists patients with the administrative aspect of gaining access to medical treatment. This position is in a hospital-based setting which includes Emergency Dept, Inpatient, Obstetrics, Outpatient, etc. Responsible for in person patient intake and registration, providing superior customer service, accurately identifying, and obtaining authorizations patients&rsquo; insurance, verifying eligibility and benefits, generating patient estimates for services rendered, financial counseling, and collecting patient liability.  1-2 years of recent customer service experience</li><li>
1-2 years previous call center experience, strongly preferred</li><li>
Excellent time management and organization skills</li><li>
Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li><li>
Strong computer skills; ability to work with multiple systems</li><li>
Prior experience with computer systems such as Outlook, Adobe, and Microsoft products</li><li>
Prior experience with contact center systems or customer relationship databases</li><li>
Knowledge of medical and/or psychiatric terminology strongly preferred</li><li>
Ability to sit for an extended period of time</li></ul>

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS<ul><li>
The pay range for this role is $18 per hour. This information reflects the anticipated salary range for this position using current market data. The final offer will be determined based on an individual's skills, years of experience, education, capacity, licenses, and other job-related factors permitted by law.</li><li>
