Substance Use Counselor I responsibilities:<ul><li>
Conducts client interviews to review substance use disorder and treatment history.</li><li>
Evaluates client response to treatment to recommend modifications to the treatment plan and assist with caseloads and development of individualized treatment plan and preparing individually appropriate goals, interventions, and necessary support.</li><li>
Assists with and provides basic didactic group counseling, including psychoeducation, drug education, and family education to ensure peer support occurs.</li><li>
Provides individual client counseling, educational programs and lectures to address relapse prevention, problem solving, behavior modification, anger management, etc., and to assist in overcoming substance use disorder, adjusting to pro-social life, and making cognitive and behavioral changes.</li><li>
Under direct supervision and with supervisor&rsquo;s approval, carries case load, per State and contract requirements.</li><li>
Collaborates with clients to develop discharge summary and plans for supervisor&rsquo;s approval to integrate aftercare treatment with referral resource services.</li><li>
Coordinates required services to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations in support of continued recovery.</li><li>
Collects and maintains treatment records and reports to ensure organizational, regulatory, accreditation, and contractual compliance.</li><li>

Job Requirements:<ul><li>
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a helping profession from an accredited college or university</li><li>

Role Overview:
We are hiring for a Therapist for our Specialized Treatment Services (STS) Team.
The STS Team is a multi-disciplinary team of: case managers, therapists, providers, medical assistants, and nursing staff. STS clients are often not successful in typical Outpatient Services and need dynamic approaches and interventions to gain and maintain stability. Specialized Treatment Services (STS) works with clients with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI) who typically have co-occurring diagnoses and are often involved in the criminal justice system. Additionally, The STS Team works closely with SummitStone&rsquo;s Competency Team to support clients going through the competency process.<div>
 As a Behavioral Health Therapist, you will provide on-going and/or acute clinical assessment, diagnosis, individual, family, and group therapy, crisis intervention, and limited case management services for adult clients with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI), substance use disorder symptoms, and/or other disabilities. Therapists will develop, document, and monitor treatment plans, monitor and document treatment services, interactions, and progress. Ensure that documentation and maintenance of client chart meet agency, state, federal, etc. audit standards. Collaborate with internal (i.e. medical, psychiatric, clinical, case management, peers, etc.) and external (i.e. referral agencies, family, friends, etc.) treatment team members and/or supports around a client&rsquo;s treatment plan goals, treatment, and treatment progress. Coordinate with collaterals and/or partner agencies during and after a client&rsquo;s treatment to ensure sustainable support and step-down services are in place.</div> 
Essential Duties:<ul><li>

Job Summary
Recovery Counselor provides inpatient functional assessments to patients across the lifespan and facilitates individual and group programming utilizing a recovery orientated framework in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team. Prevention and recovery counseling for primarily child/adolescent population with a combination of individual support sessions and group treatment.<ul><li>
Conducts a functional assessment in relation to the patient&rsquo;s reason for admission to support making recommendations of group topics, general safety, milieu engagement, and transition planning</li><li>
Follows treatments plans, organizes and implements individual and group treatment activities using a variety of best practice creative therapy techniques and interventions in alignments with the multidisciplinary treatment team plan.</li><li>
Provides enhanced individual support (1 on 1) to patients identified by the clinical team under the guidance of the department supervisor.</li><li>
Maintains timely patient-centered documentation that reflects the patient and client systems&rsquo; pertinent information for assessment, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with regulatory licensing requirements and third-party agencies</li><li>
Complete psychoeducational and recreational groups</li><li>
Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to determine the appropriate creative therapy services for individual patients (art, music, group, etc.)</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"> 
Qualifications</h3> 
<ul><li>
Associates Degree as a Drug and Alcohol Recovery Counselor, Addiction Studies and Counseling (ASCP-AS) or related field, Bachelor's degree in addictions studies, psychology, or social work preferred.</li><li>
1 year of experience working with the substance misuse population</li><li>
Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS), DARC Certificate preferred.</li><li>
Computer proficient</li><li>
Ability to assess problems, determine solutions and make decisions within a timely manner</li><li>
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to establish relationships within and outside their entity</li><li>
Focused on personal, patient/client and unit/staff safety
