<p>Part-time faculty are paid on a lecture hour equivalents (LHE) basis. For most courses, the LHE is the same as a credit hour. For others, the LHE represents additional work for teaching the class, such as grading papers for Composition classes or teaching a class with a laboratory section (computers, languages, and the sciences); in those cases, the LHE represents a figure higher than the credit hour. All part-time faculty start at the beginning pay rates, regardless of the level and type of experience obtained elsewhere. For the 2025-26 academic year rates are $1221/LHE for faculty without doctorates and $1294/LHE for faculty with doctorates.</p>
<p>Part-time faculty advance one step within the salary schedule with the successful completion of 2 fall &amp; spring semesters where 3+ LHEs are taught in each semester.</p>
<p>Part-time faculty are hired on a semester-by-semester basis. A reasonable effort is made to assure the assignment of courses to more senior part-time faculty who are fully qualified by virtue of their education, training, work experience as related to current technology and pedagogical techniques, and who have had a history of successful performance at Oakton College.</p>
<p>All assignments are conditioned on sufficient enrollment. Once a course starts, the part time faculty member is expected to complete the course.</p>

What You'll Do::

Under supervision of the Dean of General Education, the adjunct instructor provides a learning experience in the classroom, online, and/or in the lab using a variety of teaching methods such as lectures and demonstrations and using audiovisual and technological aids to supplement the presentations as well as evaluating their achievements.</div><br>

Keep students engaged in a classroom environment while following an established curriculum/syllabus.</li><li>
Create positive educational climate for students to learn in while establishing and communicating clear objectives for all learning activities.</li><li>
Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.</li><li>
Manage student behavior in the classroom/online. Observe and evaluate student's performance.</li><li>

</div><div><p>The First-Year Seminar Program at Mercy University seeks part-time adjunct instructors to teach first-year seminars to incoming freshmen. The First-Year Seminar is designed to acclimate students to college life. Instructors support students in navigating their first semester by teaching essential skills for a successful college career, introducing university resources, and encouraging students to think about their career pathways.</p>
<p>
The ideal candidate will be open to mentoring students, leading a discussion-based seminar course, and contributing to a collaborative team of colleagues.</p>
<p>
Successful candidates may be offered the opportunity to teach up to three sections. Familiarity with Mercy University is a plus. Candidates may also be asked to assist with program assessment and development and to attend select programmatic or professional development meetings.</p></div>

<p></p><div><p>The Department of Communication, Journalism and Media at Rider University seeks an adjunct instructor in Sports Media for the Fall 2026 semester.</p><p><b>
Sports Multimedia Reporting: </b>This course develops students&rsquo; skills in hard-news sports reporting, game coverage, and the production of introductory multimedia and social media sports content. Employs out-of-the-classroom reporting assignments to refine information gathering techniques such as interviewing, observation, and use of documents and other contextual materials. Includes reporting and writing on sports games, teams, players, coaches, athletic issues/controversies, and the business of sports.</p><i>
Salary is $4,215.98 for a 3-credit course. Please note that a full course is considered to have 9 students enrolled in the course. If a section is not full, 8 or fewer enrollees, the salary is prorated based on the number of students enrolled in the course.</i></div><p></p>
