<div>The Developmental Mathematics Adjunct Instructor is responsible for the planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. They will provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise. The Instructor will adhere to the general and adjunct faculty guidelines as specified by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the Drake State Community and Technical College Personnel Handbook.

Work Hours: Classes are taught day, evening, and weekends on the Huntsville campus. In addition, multiple forms of distance education are offered.</div>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">Essential Duties and Responsibilities</h2></div>
<div>The Mathematics Adjunct Instructor shall perform the duties as specified in conformity with policies established by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook.

Provide quality classroom instruction in the area of developmental math</li><li>
Provide quality instruction in the area of developmental education or adult education, as assigned, and teaching online</li><li>
Inform students concerning course requirements, evaluation procedures, attendance requirements, and academic progress</li><li>
Seek continuous improvement in curriculum, instruction, and resources</li><li>
Participate fully in the institutional planning process and assist in carrying out the overall instructional mission of the College</li><li>
Prepare and grade assignments, projects, and examinations as required</li><li>
Assist in registration and pre-registration activities as needed</li><li>
Maintain an inventory of assigned equipment and supplies</li><li>
Serve on college committees and teams when requested</li><li>
Teach at varied times, locations, formats based on student demand, day, evening or weekend, traditional classroom, hybrid, or online</li><li>
Submit required reports to the Division Chair, Assistant Dean of Instruction , or Dean of Instruction</li><li>
Inform students of educational and occupational opportunities</li><li>

Minimum of a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree from a regionally accredited institution with twenty-seven (27) semester hours in Mathematics or education</li><li>
Minimum of one (1) year of full-time teaching experience in developmental and/or college level mathematics</li><li>
Ability to handle multiple tasks</li><li>
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, other employees, and the public</li><li>
Ability to project a professional and congenial demeanor</li><li>
Ability to work independently</li><li>
Ability to use basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Banner, CANVAS, etc.)</li><li>

The Department of Information Science offers programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. Our programs are nationally recognized and ranked. The Master of Science program with majors in Library Science and Information Science is accredited by the American Library Association. Under supervision of the Dean of General Education, the adjunct instructor provides a learning experience in the classroom, online, and/or in the lab using a variety of teaching methods such as lectures and demonstrations and using audiovisual and technological aids to supplement the presentations as well as evaluating their achievements.</div>

 Master&rsquo;s degree in Data Science, Information Systems, IT/IS Security/Intelligence or related field from an accredited college or university. Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Information Security &amp; Intelligence or similar field with emphasis in AI, data science or cybersecurity.
 
 Required Work Experience:
 
 Three years of industry experience or two years industry experience plus additional education beyond master's degree or certifications in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data science or related field in information systems..
 
 Required Licenses and Certifications:
 
 A certificate or evidence of specialized training, education or publication in the area the candidate will teach, which may include the following relevant areas: PowerBI, data mining and analysis; interface design; visual/link analysis; data analysis; data base; artificial intelligence, accounting/financial analysis, health care data analysis; marketing data analysis; AWS; Microsoft Fabric; ethics.

 Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
 
 Teaching assignment may include the following areas: machine learning; exploratory data analysis; feature engineering; AI for Everyone; special/emerging topics; data mining and analysis; business intelligence, GIS, visual/link analysis; database management systems; ethics.
 
 
 Part-time teaching and related responsibilities; utilizing face-to-face, blended and/or online modes of delivery; delivery on or off campus; assuring/improving learning through assessment; close consultation with program faculty, as well as training via the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning.
 
 
 Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically.
 
 
 Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.

Faculty may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Requirements:
<ul><li>Information Technology Instructors must provide official transcripts of bachelor's (or higher) degree and active/current certification on the subject being taught.</li><li>
General Education Instructors must provide official transcripts of bachelor's and master's (or higher) degrees that include at least 18 units on the subject being taught.</li><li>
At least three years&rsquo; experience in the respective field OR two years of teaching experience</li><li>
Advanced subject matter expertise preferred in the following areas: Programming Languages: Python, R, Databases &amp; Querying: SQL, database design, data warehousing, Visualization &amp; BI Tools: Tableau, Power BI, visualization libraries in Python/R, Analytics &amp; Business Tools: Descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics methods, Project Management Tools/Practices: Project planning, risk management, team collaboration in data projects</li><li>

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a variable hour position. Days and hours of work are usually Monday through Friday, but weekend and evening hours may be required. Live classes are scheduled twice a week on Monday and Tuesday from 6:00pm-9:30pm (Pacific Time).
