Active, Current, Unencumbered Licensure: Applicable state as a Registered Nurse and per the State Board of Nursing</li><li>
Education Qualifications: A minimum of a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Degree is required. BSN-prepared nurses may be considered depending on the campus&rsquo;s needs.</li><li>
Experiential Qualifications: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, and per the State Board of Nursing</li></ul><p></p><p><b>
Physical/Mental Demands and Work Environment:</b> If performing nursing duties related to clinical instruction (especially patient contact) hazards may include needle sticks, blood and bodily fluid exposure, or any other hazard a Registered Nurse (RN) might be exposed to in the normal performance of nursing care. The College serves the residents of Accomack County and Northampton County as a two-year institution of higher learning. Operating under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Eastern Shore Community College Board, the college is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the two counties and the Eastern Shore Community College Foundation.<br>

Eastern Shore Community College seeks applications for part-time faculty for Fall semester 2026.<br>

The adjunct faculty member is responsible for teaching courses to which he/she has specific training or competence. Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to students to promote and direct student learning in either a classroom, remote via Zoom, or online environment to students with a wide variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. Engages students outside of class via office hours and provides thorough, timely, and effective feedback to students regarding the mastery of course and program learning outcomes.<br>

1. Responsible for creating a learning environment that facilitates students&rsquo; acquisition of knowledge and skills in a discipline and/or program.<br>
2. Aligns course activities with student learning outcomes for the course; employ a variety of active learning strategies to foster student engagement; employ appropriate technology and supporting materials that support course and/or program learning outcomes; and provide students with prompt and meaningful feedback on course activities and assignments, communicating with students in a timely and respectful manner.<br>
3. Deliver instruction in support of stated learning outcomes; adhere to college policies and procedures for participation in student surveys of instruction; conduct meaningful and timely assessments of student learning, including at least one assessment within the first 15% of class; and analyze the previous semester&rsquo;s evaluation of instruction and develop and implement appropriate action plans as necessary.<br>
4. Responsibilities may include work during the day, evening and/or weekend as determined by the course(s) assigned.<br>
5. Hold at least 1 office hour per week for each credit hour assigned.</div>
</div><b>Minimum Qualifications:</b><br>

<ul><li>Must be a registered nurse who holds a current, unrestricted license in Virginia or a multistate licensure privilege.</li></ul>

<ul><li>One year of direct client care experience in geriatric long term care.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Requires minimum of 5 years of nursing experience. Specifically, one year of experience as a nurse within the previous 5 years and at least one year of experience in the provision of long-term care services (includes experience such as employment in a nurse aide program, employment or supervision of nursing students in a nursing facility or unit, geriatrics department, chronic care hospital, home care or other long-term care setting).</li></ul>
<ul><li>Ability to complete certification for train the trainer and a recertification every 3 years.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Ability to communicate effectively in an electronically format.</li></ul>

What You'll Do::

Under supervision of the Dean of General Education, the adjunct instructor provides a learning experience in the classroom, online, and/or in the lab using a variety of teaching methods such as lectures and demonstrations and using audiovisual and technological aids to supplement the presentations as well as evaluating their achievements.</div><br>

Keep students engaged in a classroom environment while following an established curriculum/syllabus.</li><li>
Create positive educational climate for students to learn in while establishing and communicating clear objectives for all learning activities.</li><li>
Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.</li><li>
Manage student behavior in the classroom/online. Observe and evaluate student's performance.</li><li>
Identify and refer students who are &ldquo;at risk&quot; of not being successful to the Student Success Coordinator.</li><li>
Provide ongoing student advisement and academic counseling by tutoring and mentoring students on an individual basis when needed.</li><li>
Grade tests and projects, maintain grade books, track attendance and perform other administrative duties as needed.</li><li>

This is a temporary academic position in which the adjunct faculty member is responsible for instruction of students in a clinical setting within a given discipline.</p><p>
Assumes responsibility for clinical instruction of assigned courses.
