General Summary:
The physician provides direct care to patients in accordance with established protocols, practices and standardized care guidelines. 
 
Responsibilities:
1. Perform appropriate physical exams and document appropriately and in a timely manner.
 
2. Utilization and interpretation of appropriate diagnostic tests (i.e. laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging and procedures appropriate to their specialty) and provide appropriate referral or consultation.
 
3. Perform patient education and counseling to promote wellness. Consistently address and provide resources for health risk behaviors.
 
4. Provide agreed upon coverage to care for patients in the appropriate settings (ex. ambulatory office and/or hospital) during business hours and evening/weekends, as mutually agreed upon and per medical staff bylaws.
 
5. Physician will maintain and provide the clinical, technical and surgical skills to which they have been credentialled to perform.
 
6. Physician will use the appropriate pharmacological dispensing consistent with patients age, medical conditions, allergies, drug interaction and duration of therapy assuring quality of care in the dispensing of both narcotic and non-narcotic medication.
 
7. Physician will maintain an updated Delaware medical and CSR license and DEA license, including required continuing medical education (CME) and appropriate Board certification.
 
8. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

The Medical Physician will primarily be responsible for being the lead physician at one of our correctional institutions, with duties such as managing and evaluating the medical program activities based on the company goals, objectives, and philosophy according to industry standards and contractual obligations. The Medical Physician will also function as liaison between correctional officials, public agencies, and the company as part of this role. The Medical Physician collaborates with the Health Services Administrator to ensure effective inmate patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes, while maintaining the established guidelines. The position is located at Camden County Jail and is 3-11 pm shift.

Performs and documents routine physical examinations on inmate patients referred by the nursing/professional staff of the assigned correctional facility consistent with the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards of care, NJ 10-A, American Correctional Association (ACA) and Performance Based National Detention Standards (PBNDS) as appropriate.</li><li>
Supervises the Medical Unit in facilitating health care in the detention facility.</li><li>
Provides treatment and orders studies, tests and ancillary services required consistent with the provision of basic health care services.</li><li>
Conducts sick call by evaluating patient condition, determining restrictions of patient activities based on findings, and excusing patients from work or other activities or recommending limitations on activities.
</li><li>Administers treatments and prescribes medications and other treatments to treat illnesses and health problems as allowed by state regulations and under the guidelines of the approved CFG formulary.</li><li>

Supervises the development of and application of policies, procedures, and protocols in the care of detainees / inmates.</li><li>

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education<ul><li>
Completion from an accredited medical school facility with a degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).</li><li>
Completion of a US based residency program.</li><li>
Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state the facility is located (maintain a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times).</li><li>
Must have an unrestricted and valid prescriptive authority with Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS).</li></ul>
