Dauphin County Children &amp; Youth Services is currently accepting applications for a full-time position of Caseworker 2. </b>The Caseworker 2 performs social service casework and case management for children, adolescents and their families by conducting interviews, assessing needs, and case planning. He/she establishes and maintains associated confidential records and collaborates with legal staff in judicial and quasi-judicial proceedings pursuant to clients&rsquo; well-being. The Caseworker 2 may make task assignments to a Social Service Aide and reports directly to the Caseworker Supervisor.</div><p></p><p><b><br>
Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:</b></p><p></p><ul><li><div><br>
Six months of experience as a CYS Caseworker 1.</div></li></ul><p></p><ul><li><div><br>
Or successful completion of the Social Casework Intern program.</div></li></ul><p></p><ul><li><div><br>
Or a bachelor's degree with a social welfare or Social Work major.</div></li></ul><p></p><ul><li><div><br>
Or a bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, social work, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences, and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social services agency.</div></li></ul><p></p><p><b><br>
Other Requirements:</b></p><p>
At the time of hire, a valid driver&rsquo;s license and positive driving record, a favorable criminal background check, child abuse and FBI clearances, as well as favorable references are required. The applicant must provide proof of a valid Pennsylvania driver&rsquo;s license within 60 days from the date of hire. An alternative form of identification will be accepted if you are not eligible to receive a Pennsylvania driver&rsquo;s license under 67 PA. This position may be filled at any level from an APS Specialist I to APS Specialist IV. Factors such as education and experience may be considered when establishing the starting salary; however, the starting salary for this position may not exceed the maximum of the pay group.

The APS Professional Education Program reimburses eligible staff for the cost of tuition and fees up to $10,500 per fiscal year. APS Investigator Specialists are mobile caseworkers. Mobile casework is not the same as working from home. APS Investigator Specialists spend the majority of their workday &ldquo;in the field&rdquo; conducting home visits to interview clients and alleged perpetrators. Although each workday may begin and end at home, APS Investigator Specialists are expected to be in the field making visits and engaging the community every day.
</p><p>This role requires frequent travel to homes and offices both within and outside your assigned region. Reliable transportation and a strong willingness to travel are essential, as you can expect to be on the road about 60% of the time. While much of your travel will be local, there will be instances&mdash;including last-minute situations&mdash;where you&rsquo;ll need to go outside your assigned counties, sometimes with little notice. Some overnight travel is also required, especially during initial training held outside your area and as cases demand. Flexibility is critical, as our mission to protect the most vulnerable means you must be ready to serve clients wherever and whenever you are needed.</p><p></p><p><br>

Job Duties:</b><ul><li>
The APS Case Manager perform specialized case management in the area of Adult Protective Services (APS), Division of Adult Advocacy, in the following county or counties: Lee and surrounding counties as needed. Case management includes but is not limited to conducting investigations, conducting assessments and coordinating protective and preventive services for vulnerable adults. Will assist other counties with APS case management as needed.</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>
Investigates to determine vulnerability, abuse, neglect by caregiver, self-neglect and exploitation reports of vulnerable adults while respecting self-determination of vulnerable adults. Will assist other counties with APS case management as needed.</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>
Provides case management services according to APS policy and procedures to include home visits and legal proceedings and enter documentation into CAPSS as required in a timely and accurate manor.</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>
Coordinates necessary services to keep the vulnerable adult safe to include temporary and long-term placements.</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>
Assists law enforcement and/or family court in emergency removal of adults, and secure placement in a protective environment.</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>
Maintains professional and harmonious relationships with co-workers and the community.</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>
Assesses the vulnerable adult's ability to secure long-term services to include but not limited to redirecting funds, securing a guardian or conservator, filling out appropriate documents for emergency services and connecting to probate or family court.</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>
Ensures that Personal Identifying Information (PII) is properly used, accessed, gathered, shared and disposed. Protect the agency networks and applications by safeguarding systems, equipment and data.</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>
Performs Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duty/services as directed.</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>
Performs other duties as required and/or directed.</li></ul></div><p></p>

<div><p>A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science.<br>
